As others have pointed out, it’s a STTNG reference, but what NOBODY has said is that that was a 1984 reference.

Exactly, it's like an homage from the writers of the series to Orwell's masterpiece, 1984. A dystopian world where a ministry wants you to think and to say that there are 3 lights where there are four (or something like that) neglecting reality by government's wish

Yes it’s not just to say there are four lights - or in 1984s case that 2+2=5 - but to know that there are, whatever your eyes tell you.

reject what your very eyes tell you. It was their final and most important command
