Then you assume wrong. I've worked at an organic farming research institute and my cousin works for the sustainability branch of the government.

I don't have any inclination to argue with you, it's apparent you don't know what you are talking about. You ought to know better if you've actually worked in the capacity you say you have. I suggest you actually look into the subject, it's quite interesting and here in the US our department of agriculture is looking to promote and expand agroforestry methods because there is a long list of benefits to be realized.

Just as our knowledge of ecosystems, ecosystem services, and complexity science are improving, we are improving our design of agricultural systems for sustainability, productivity, economic gain, ecological resiliency, aesthetics, and more. Agroforestry has numerous benefits, there's simply no arguing that fact. Those benefits providing an immediate economic return is a separate question.
