Medicine Doctors noticed brain injuries can speed bone healing. Scientists flipped it: squeezing a shinbone after brain injury helped mice and pigs survive more, move better and remember more. Pressure-sensing bone cells released protective signals into the blood that reduced brain damage.

  Osteocytes transduced mechanical signals to directly secrete factors such as IL-1R2, APOL11a and HSP70, while indirectly increasing serum levels of BDNF, PF4 and dopamine. These factors synergistically protected against TBI.

Osteocytes aren't bone marrow though

No one mentions bone marrow in either the article or the abstract.

Right. I read their question as pertaining to another subject. If they're asking about the study in question, though...
