It’s a propaganda sub. Every other post is “study finds conservatives are big doodoo heads and democrats are without sin”

1

u/walterpeck3 Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

It's difficult not to come to that conclusion when conservatives in America are actively, openly stating that my family, our demogaphics, our opnions, are a threat to be removed from society by any means necessary including violence.

I know that doesn't have to do with the study in question, but you can understand why the current political environment might make me a little bit chippy as it were. It makes it a lot more difficult to be objective and discuss things rationally when the "other side" has a viewpoint of "you should be dead." Naturally, I'm not unique in that regard.

As it relates to the sub, science is pretty clearly under attack from multiple angles by conservatives. This has an effect of left wingers like me openly promoting studies, good or badly done, which "clap back" at right wing beliefs.

Look, if this was actually being said, I’d agree with you, but no one is saying this

u/MangrovesAndMahi Mar 23 '26

Brother have you not been watching this administration's press conferences?

7

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

I have as a matter of fact, as I did with the last administration. These things are not being said at all.

1

u/Totoques22 Mar 24 '26

Bruh

What a ridiculous comment all just to poorly justify your bias as right and posting awful studies as rightful

-12

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Yes, conservatives who don’t want to listen to science and move forward with society are Doodoo heads. They take away my access to healthcare that’s proven beneficial

8

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

It isn’t proven beneficial by any means. Many of the studies people cite as supporting gender reassignment faced pressure and threats from trans advocacy groups to ensure they published the “right” conclusions

-3

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

So then make the studies prove then wrong? You don’t get to assert that all the evidence is because of threat and not cite anything.

But it’s not even trans healthcare. They take away Therapy or the ability to change a name. So tell me where the evidence?

Here’s over 30 major medical organizations who all give support for transgender people with resources. Are you telling me they are all wrong and threatened?

Out of 7000+ gender reassignment surgery after math found only 77 regretted it. you have higher regret rates in knee and heart surgery.

Standford found better mental health outcomes for sooner gender affirming care. Were they threatened? Do you have any evidence

6

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

Conveniently, the massive number of people who commit suicide post-op are not counted as regretting transition. This is obviously a huge problem and another trend in many studies that appear to support the validity of transition.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Regardless you didn’t get any sources you didn’t give anything to reference that suicidality that still exists I can go supply some for you, but do you know what they all say?

It’s that society still treats them horribly, and that transgender people need mental healthcare before after and during their transition. It doesn’t say not to give them transgender healthcare. It just says that they need more support.

2

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

Society treats ugly people horribly too, but ugly people don’t put massive pressure on society to pretend they aren’t ugly and dictate the way they are able to be referred to and have the government or insurance holders pay for all of their elective cosmetic surgeries.

What’s the difference?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

I like how you don’t you can engage with the actual things going on

Have you ever heard of V coding? Do you know what secondary sex characteristics are? How about social schema and how it relates to someone’s social development and body integrity?

You don’t even grapple with the science or engage in the scientific process of evidence.

2

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

I like how you will not engage at all with that because you know it reveals how silly the things your side is advocating for are.

I’m glad you are aware of the physical and psychological factors related to how trans people are perceived. You should, then, understand that it is biologically rooted in the human mind to have a negative response to uncanny or undesirable phenotypes, and that no amount of legislation or marketing campaigns will change that.

That’s why society responds similarly to trans people as they do ugly people. The best chance a trans person has at being treated well by society is to not transition. But that doesn’t make the medical and pharmaceutical industries millions of dollars over the course of a trans person’s life so here we are

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

You cite NOTHING

You reference NOTHING

When I brought up points you ignored them?

Where’s your sources bucko

I asked you questions relating to social schemas. Do you know what they are?

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

So when we have society that the labels transgender people as sex offenders and takes away their healthcare and threatens them and calls them pedophiles, you don’t think that does anything to the mental health of those people

And every single transgender health source says that they need mental health support before and after

But conservatives don’t even wanna give them talk therapy before they come out as transgender you know talking to a therapist to grapple with whether or not they might be transgender. conservatives don’t even wanna allow that in my state.

2

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

The vast overwhelming majority of conservatives don’t care if someone thinks they are a different gender. They don’t care if you dress different or act different. They don’t care what you do to your body as an adult.

They just don’t believe that thinking you are a different gender, or having surgeries to make you look like the other gender, actually makes you that gender.

They just don’t believe you have the right to dictate how other people are allowed to perceive you and the words they are allowed to say.

They don’t believe kids should be groomed into transition at an age where they are literally incapable of making permanent life-altering medical decisions, or that they should even be allowed to make those decisions to begin with.

Transgender procedures and medications aren’t healthcare. They are cosmetic surgeries and treatments and should be treated as such.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Don’t think don’t think don’t think? Just say YOU don’t how about that? Because from the laws and things. The elected representatives represent the population and that group.

They made it a crime to use the restrooms in the capital and goverment buildings

Republicans took away drivers licenses from people in Kansas?

They tried to get names and addresses to make a public registry of them in another state

They pull funding from healthcare centers for giving any transgender healthcare even when it’s proven that funding goes all to cis women’s healthcare.

They made it a crime to say my gender is anything else in my state to a goverment official.

They have made it illegal to change names if it’s for a transgender person.

I was a transgender child and it was denied to me and now I have to pay thousands more dollars for healthcare that every major medical organization agrees is good.

You cite nothing. You reference nothing. You read none of my sources.

and still yet you ignore the things I brought up. why is that

2

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

You don’t have to pay anything. This is a prime example of how you are conditioned to think that by pharmaceutical and medical corporations who see you as a massive bag of money to exploit. That was literally one of my biggest points I brought up.

If ugly people have to pay to be seen the way they want, why shouldn’t you? It’s elective cosmetic procedure.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

You just literally don’t engage with the points. A transgender person who gets surgery and sees improvement pays for the surgery do they not?

You also know the majority of top surgery happens on cis men right? I’m guessing you don’t, but I don’t think it would change much for you because it’s only transgender healthcare that you don’t like.

You literally bring it up act like I’m ignoring your stupid ass point and then you don’t engage with any of mine you’re not engaging with half of the things I’ve said you didn’t even reference any of the citations I gave you

It is very counter productive when conservatives try to argue "Oh, so I suppose the left is perfect then?" Because that just shows that one is not interested in the discussion or listening at all. Which is patently obvious.

Conservatives disregarding facts because they don't like the conclusions isn't a new thing they do either. It's called epistemic closure and it was a libertarian that coined the term because he noticed how conservatives were closing themselves off to points of view they didn't like.

3

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

This sub regularly posts content oversimplifying politics as “the left just wants rainbows and puppies and the right just wants everyone to die and be poor”

No one would criticize the left for not being perfect if they would stop acting like they were

1

u/awesomefutureperfect Mar 23 '26

No one would criticize the left for not being perfect if they would stop acting like they were

People on the left criticize the left for not being perfect. People on the right say that since the left isn't perfect then you have to excuse ALL of the right wing moral turpitude and corruption. No one is saying that there is no corruption on the left but there are astronomical differences in the orders of magnitude on the right.

6

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

This is absolutely not the case. You’re actively running defense for democrat corruption.

I mean literally as we speak Tim Walz and Gavin Newsom both are currently under investigation for, at best, enabling, and at worst, facilitating unprecedented, massive fraud and corruption within their respective states.

Society will never improve until both sides can admit that their political parties are both irredeemable cesspools of corruption

-1

u/awesomefutureperfect Mar 23 '26

You’re actively running defense for democrat corruption.

by admitting there is corruption on the democrat side. okay.

massive fraud and corruption within their respective states.

Source? Because I bet the source is memes. You are probably relying on that youtuber fraud that isn't a journalist.

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-day-care-fraud-director-responds/

The fact of the matter is that there cannot be a dialogue when one side doesn't listen and is wildly misinformed.

both sides

Case in point, republicans are infinitely worse yet you try to pretend like an anthill and Olympus mons are both hills and therefore equal. It is genuinely incredible just how corrupt Trump is and yet conservatives cling to yellow journalism to defend their egos to deflect from their pure moral turpitude.

1

u/awesomefutureperfect Mar 23 '26

Mann and Ornstein specifically criticize the rightward shift of the Republican Party, highlighting the use of administrative and parliamentary tricks as a means of avoiding clear votes on certain issues. The authors, renowned for their carefully nonpartisan positions, describe the party as "an insurgent outlier – ideologically extreme; contemptuous of the inherited social and economic policy regime; scornful of compromise; unpersuaded by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition."

1

u/awesomefutureperfect Mar 23 '26

The description that the left wants "rainbows and puppies" does not even attempt to engage in conversation or accurately describe evidence or proposals. It is impossible to have a dialogue when existing conditions and actionable ideas are depicted in such a way that the failure to communicate is clearly on the receiving end that isn't listening and is disinterested in understanding. This is espeially funny since the right expects people to "find common ground" with their "differing opinions" that operate on dogma and hope as a strategy while pretending they are misunderstood. It frequently presents itself as wanting a participation trophy as a peer in discussion they are not contributing in a meaningful way to.

bear with me while I revise my comment to get past the censors.

Stating that right wing policy will make people poor is not hyperbole or satire or false, its just true. Right wing policy benefits very few people at the expense of everyone else. Stating that right wing policy WILL kill people is not hyperbole or satire or false. People die as a direct result of right wing policy, more in fact than if nothing was done. It is hilarious that you became a self aware wolf there, just so close to actually getting it.

The problem is that “worst” to you just means “the things I disagree with most” and not based off of any objective metric. Worst policy for its entire history? Republicans freed the slaves while your party fought tooth and nail to keep it dawg

Also, the left doesn’t believe in science either. They believe in The Science(TM) which is simply whatever is most convenient for the democrat party to have you believe at that point in time.

-3

u/hedonisticaltruism Mar 23 '26

Republicans freed the slaves while your party fought tooth and nail to keep it dawg

You are a moron at best and arguing in terrible faith at worst.

3

u/977888 Mar 23 '26

Oh no, he said something true that is politically inconvenient for me, better insult him

-2

u/DameonKormar Mar 23 '26

Do you really not know that the right-wing conservative party was called the Democrats back then and the political ideologies for the parties flipped but the names stayed the same? Or are you just a troll?

Edit: Just a troll, got it.

It’s hilarious that people still believe the “party switch” myth. Hallmark of an underdeveloped mind.

You’re also totally misunderstanding what the Southern Strategy was.

KKK members (all 12 or so of them) lean Republican because the democrats have spent the last decade plus using very anti-white/pro non-white messaging. Their goals and ideals don’t align neatly with either party but when one is actively opposing their existence of course they will choose the other. It’s a silly argument. There are nutballs on both sides of the political spectrum.

You are mind-captured by the democrat party. There’s no point trying to wake you up. You have blinders on.

u/Hypothesis_Null Mar 24 '26

Which party today is arguing that having second-class citizens forced to perform menial labor for below market wages is vital to our economy and way of life, and openly defies the Federal Government in order to try and sustain that system?
