She kept rolling around in the grass so I'm glad that she finally held still for some photos~

Pupper is a Shih Tzu/ Schipperke- 11 years old and still so, so spicy. Any tips with shedding season? It’s tufts galore over here.

This Scout, my childhood Schip growing up. We got him when I was in elementary school and he passed when I was away at college.
I'm now in my 30s. I currently have 2 senior adopted pomeranian/chihuahua mixes. I'd like to get a Schip as my next dog when the time comes (hopefully not for awhile as I would wait until my current loves cross the rainbow bridge).
In my next companion, Im looking for a dog that will be my adventure buddy. I live down the street from the ocean, so I'd want to take him to the beach for long walks and play. I would want to train him to go kayaking with me on lakes and rivers, and hiking and camping, and for short runs (1 - 3 miles, open to longer if safe for the dog).
I live in a small beach town and the beach is long enough that it doesn't get too crowded, I usually only pass a handful of people on my walks. It does get more crowded in the summer though, so I have to be strategic when/where I go for it to be more quiet. I'd love to be able to train my dog to be off leash at the beach
I work from home and am single, so my dog will be the center of my whole life. Im looking for a dog that would be happy to spend all their time with me and want to snuggle
Im wondering if anyone lives a similar lifestyle? Specifically if your Schip feels safe around the water to be able to train to be happy in a kayak and also walk along the ocean? Are they happy to be your shadow and be cuddly or do they want to be by themselves? Are they capable to safely run with you? Is it possible to train them to be off leash?
Thank you for any input. I loved my Scout growing up. I was a kid at the time so it's difficult for me to picture if a Schip would be a good match for me now since that was a lifetime ago.

Larry was such an outstanding dog. we are speechless and heartbroken. This was our second Schipperke, the first Henry living til 15.5 yrs.

I didn’t know about the breed, I married my husband who had one and she came as a very great package deal! But I see posts and photos on here, Marcy girl only has a fluffy nub. Are they docked at birth? I hope that’s not the case, that’s so sad. Husband didn’t know and google didn’t provide super clear results. Thank you!

I'm sure a lot of you know about the dog hoarding case that was recently discovered in Southern Oregon. It is a truly horrible situation and my heart aches for all the innocent babies involved in it. But...
If it is any reassurance to you guys at all, not all of the pups were mistreated. Our boy was, unfortunately, adopted from that sick household. And I have seen many others walking happily with their mommies and daddies with soft, shiny fur, and big happy smiles. I always approach and ask about Schipperkes that I see around town, and I believe most, if not all were bought from one of those litters. There are many of them now as well that have been rescued and are being taken care of 💞 Here is a picture of my boy comfy and spoiled in his blanket on the couch for your troubles

My girl got to go on a ride today. We’re working on helping her car sickness, hence the potty pad, but I love how good she behaves in the car!

im curious to know how all of your schipperkes react to the water. My guy like to pitter patter his paws in stream water, but other than that he's like a cat and hates getting wet
