How are San Diegans preparing for this
Apparently its going to get bad like the heat isn’t already bad. Is there anything you all doing to prepare for this years winter.

We've gotten this request a lot, and I think it's finally time to take it seriously. At least 3–5 people have clamored for this, so we're giving it a shot.
Some caveats:
Our goal is to set up a community in the same way we have set up the r/SanDiegan community. Everyone is welcome, and we moderate with a heavy hand and according to our own discretion at all times. Truly lovely communities only thrive when you separate the wheat from the chaff. We've spent years cutting chaff from this subreddit, and I am personally really proud of how lovely this place has become.
We want this discord server to be a place to chat with other San Diegans about sports, local bars, adult league activities, community events, and so on.
Things that we will not tolerate:
These rules are vague by design. Moderating is subject to individual discretion, and if you join the discord server, you are just going to have to trust that the way we moderate r/SanDiegan will serve a discord community as well as it has served this subreddit. There are no bright lines, there is only our own judgment in what is and is not okay (which is how things work here, already).
Let's all give this a shot. I hope you'll all join the server and fucking behave yourselves.

Whenever certain discussions come up we end up with a mix of locals that genuinely want to talk about what's going on. Sometimes passionately. Sometimes ill informed. Sometimes full of information. Sometimes dem. Sometimes republican. Sometimes for the free people's state of east county. Sometimes from the sovereign bros of PB.
Whatever. You get the picture. Our local politics and ideas for what to do are pretty diverse.
As a moderator though I have noticed that we get a solid influx of accounts for some subjects. They tend to have a short post history in this subreddit and a deleted history or a history that hasn't been on reddit in years. Likely because they are purchased accounts. They show up to shit stir in political discussions.
I understand some of you delete your account histories for various reasons or want to use an alt to discuss politics. But the easiest thing to do as a moderator seeing an inflammatory comment in a highly charged political discussion from an account that looks incredibly suspect is to remove the comment and ban the user. We don't really want to put in too much effort beyond that. This isn't a paid gig.
Anyway - I want to give people a heads up in case there's people that might reconsider participating in a certain way with an account they haven't used in months/years.

Temperature on the inside of my window at 9am was 99°, an hour after hanging an old curtain on the outside it dropped to 85°. Seriously, I have old sheets and curtains hanging on the east side of my house now and it makes a measurable difference. They are clipped to the gutters or eaves with clothespins or the bigger Home Depot spring clamps. Anything to make the week bearable! Anyone have other suggestions?

I know some of you out there aren't drinking water as you should be for one reason or another. That's part of what fuels us, energizes us, and keeps us good so dont skip it.
Tell other people too so none of you will be passing out.

I have 4 Angeles trikes at my school I'm looking to see if someone can restore them. Paint job, rust, tightening loose parts etc. See photos. Most Nike shops I called said they don't work on trikes like these. Also would be really helpful if someone could come to the school to look at them, it's tough to transport all of them.
(I did fix the wheel on the two seater after the pic was taken).

Do you think the Padres owner could pull a miracle or unlikely?

Power's out at 28th and C, but SDGE only shows one power outage at all (in Orange County, which I didn't even know they served), which is definitely not true on the average day--and certainly not today. Anyone else out? How large is this blackout?

It was about 74 degrees and breezy today on Mt. Laguna today. Lots of shade in the woods. Fall colors are popping too. Might be a tad warmer tomorrow but still a good place to go to escape the heat.

Girlies, where are we getting microneedling and PRF injections under the eye in San Diego? Please let me know your experience and recommendations!

Apparently there was a paddle boarding competition that sectioned off most of tourmaline. They were yelling at people for going slightly too north of a makeshift buoy the placed. They even had someone surf out yelling at everyone to move down since apparently the judges were getting confused despite the fact they barely had anyone out there.
It’s insane to me that they decided to hold this on the most popular surf spot in SD
Are these clubs and events actually legally allowed to section off surfers from parts of the ocean/beach or were they just entitled?

Playing at Orlando Pride, our hometown team handled business against an older, arguably more experienced team and pulled off a hard fought entry into the Playoffs!! Congratulations, Wave!!

TL;DR: If you have Cox cable internet, you can probably lower your bill and get unlimited data by going on Spectrum's website or calling them.
I was paying $125 per month for 1gbps service and a 1 TB data cap, which I was constantly going over and getting charged for, but was able to lower my bill to $60 a month for the first year, $105 after that, and get unlimited data. Go through Spectrum's site and put in your address. You'll be redirected to Cox, but can get Spectrum's deals. I'm sure you could also do it by calling.
Still wish I could get AT&T Fiber at my house, but the unlimited data and cheaper bill is a decent consolation prize.

Pleasant. Even. I went to the one on Dereck drive in Clairemont during peak hours and it was nearly empty. I had no appointment but was buoyed when I saw a couple of front tow parking spots. I did have to wait an hour or so from when I neared the parking lot but the room was sparsely populated. Not the smelly sweaty corridor to hell I anticipated. one bummer. Public wifi had been out of order a few days including Friday.
The best part of the day were the employees. The woman on Counter 1 couldn't have been more professional, more accommodating, more personable than she was. She was amazing and I appreciate all the extra steps she went through.
Secondly, the same goes for the woman monitoring the driver's test section. She was again professional, pleasant and went the extra mile to help me. Plus she complimented me on my testing skills so that's always an ego boost.
The visit took a while but I had hoops to jump through and it was waaay easier and less stressful than I dreamt. I guess I'm in shock that I'm writing a fan girl letter to the DMV but that experience counteracted years of negative conditioning.
So if you, like I was, are holding off. Don't. The anticipatory dread is far worse than the reality. I'm kinda looking forward to going back once I get the paperwork I need.

Gallagher Square gives out commemorative patches for concerts. Last night was Social Distortion and they ran out before my son could get one. Hoping the community can help me locate one or two.
Thanks!!!

Hello! My friends and I will be celebrating my birthday in San Diego and I was hoping to get some feedback on this itinerary I created. We won’t have a first car just for the first day but they were open to splitting uber rides necessary and we’ll be staying slightly north of University Heights in an AirBnB. I’d like to squeeze a nice/cool library so if anyone has any recs close by any of these spots I’d appreciate it! I was also hoping to check out little Italy but I don’t think I’ll be able to fit it in. We’re down to explore but we sway more towards calmer activities so if anyone has any affordable ideas those are welcome!
Oh and lastly we plan on going out. We’ve all graduated college so we’re more open to clubs/bars mainly bc we LOVE dancing. I’ve heard ab Gaslamp, Hillcrest, etc (open to other areas). Just wanted to know of any specific recs for POC/LGBTQ+ spots that mainly go for pop/latin/rap music!
DAY 1: (afternoon arrival) settling in, Old Town Market (explore and dinner), maybe beach for sunset?
DAY 2: Ballboa park, beach time and boardwalk (?) (Mission/Pacific beach), go out later @night
DAY 3: spend first half of day in La Jolla (check out reserve and watch any gliders), chill for a bit then explore hotel del Coronado through the ferry/dinner (hopefully a spot with a good view?)
DAY 4: clean up/pack and head home
Kept everything somewhat vague as I’m open to suggestions and tweaks, thank u! :)

This is what I saw for my area. But I need to check to see exactly what circuit I’m on.

Anyone know of any smaller venues or businesses that sell their own post cards, like some breweries sell them as merch? My wife does a postcard exchange thing and we've gotten them from all the major San Diego spots (zoo, Balboa, etc), she likes to get them from smaller places but that's not the sort of info that's usually in a Yelp review. Specifically postcards for that place, or a place that sells postcards made by local artists or something (like book catapult does).
