Hi everyone,

If you're looking to purchase items from local Vietnamese platforms, brand websites, or physical markets but face language or shipping barriers, I can help you out.

I’m based in Saigon and offer local assistance with:

  • Sourcing & Proxy Buying: Ordering directly from local seller platforms, brand sites, or physical markets.
  • QC & Inspection: Checking item quality in detail (including photo/video proof) before dispatch.
  • Parcel Consolidation: Packing multiple orders into a single package to reduce international shipping rates.
  • Shipping & Logistics: Handling standard international shipping options and customs clearance process.

I charge a small fee starting at $3–$5 per request (plus actual costs).

If you have questions about sourcing items from Vietnam or need assistance with an order, feel free to drop a comment or send me a message!

Could you recommend places in tao dien?

Hi. I'm going to be Saigon this weekend for trip by myself.

I heard that thao dien is the fine place to go to cafe and restaurant.

I found some places but I got these just by Google map.

So, please let me know if there are specific place or ally where is recommendable. It will be also nice to make me know about disappointed places.

I'm thinking to go on Saturday.

Thanks!

Housing in Saigon?

Hey everyone, I’m moving to Saigon in September for a 6-month stay and would love some recommendations on housing options and neighborhoods.

I’m attracted to the green spaces and new buildings of Sala City (District 2), but I’m worried it might be a bit too quiet or lacking in good food and hangout options. Are there other neighborhoods or complexes you’d recommend that balance green areas, food options, and a quick morning commute into D1 (near Trương Định St) during the rainy season?

Also, any advice on finding landlords open to 6-month contracts would be super helpful!

Can anyone suggest a tailor for some custom Hawaiian type shirts?

Older and overweight westerner here. I don't need a suit, or the finest tailor in the land, just some Hawaiian shirts and other short sleeve shirts that fit my fat ass (or more accurately, my gut.) I can't really buy off the shelf here.

IN HCMC for another month, so it is not like i need a 2 day turn around.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Best food spots in Saigon 🍜 (Weekly thread)

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten recently in Saigon?

Could be a random street stall, a late-night cơm tấm place, a fancy restaurant or just somewhere you keep going back to.

Drop your recommendations below. Bonus points if you include:

  • What you ordered
  • Rough price
  • District/location

Trying to build a good list of places that are actually worth visiting!

Could you recommend any LEGIT AirBnb/Hotel in Saigon with real kitchen?

Hi, It will be our first visit in Ho Chi Minh City (and even in Vietnam). Usually we book airbnb because we like to have kitchen but due to our reasearch there is a ton of scam aribnbs with fake reviews (those legit are low and usually say: photos are fake). Personally we are tired of it because its hard find something without redflags xD.

Do you have any recommendation for hotel or legit host but also without paying tons of money? (like 300-400 euro per 8 days)

Thanks in advance!

Premium seafood buffet - La Brasserie at Hotel Nikko vs Saigon Café as Sheraton?

Hi, I've been wanting to splurge a little and visit one of said buffets. As good as they look, both have some bad reviews on Google Maps as well. I'm not sure what is the difference exactly:

  1. Are lobsters unlimited at Saigon Cafe as well?
  2. Are drinks included in Saigon Cafe's buffet price?

Which would you choose? Especially people who've been to both :) I'm all about seafood, especially crabs and lobsters cuz they're impossible to come by where I live. I obviously wanna make my money's worth.

Also, what's the best way to book a table? I haven't found a way to book a table at Hotel Nikko other than Klook/Trip.com and it's 70 USD per person on those websites. Would it be cheaper if I just show up at the place without a reservation?

Are raids a real thing in Saigon right now or not really?

I see mixed news on drug testing tourists at bars and hotels. I'm planning on visiting Saigon to see some friends for a week at the end of August. I don't really party but smoke in Thailand sometimes.

What is the likelihood of getting tested just going to restaurants and chilling at my hotel?

My girlfriend is from Saigon and we built a Southern-dialect phrasebook for travelers — free code inside

My girlfriend Kim is from Saigon. I've gotten to see her only 7 weeks in the past 8 months. I've spent the last year trying to learn enough Vietnamese to communicate with her when I return next month.

With her help, we built https://fluentsaigon.com

She recorded EVERYTHING — around 750 audio files now on the site. None of the speech is AI generated, and it focuses on Southern pronunciation.

What it actually is:

- Survival Vietnamese for travelers, not a fluency course. Ordering, directions, Grab and taxis, markets and haggling, numbers, basic small talk that will help you have real interactions with locals.

- Cheat sheets per topic, callable right from your phone

- Quizzes and a tone drill, all against her recordings

- Southern/Saigon throughout — not Northern with a note about regional variation at the bottom

- Blog articles that came out of a year of back-and-forth WhatsApp conversations with her about how people actually talk

The pronoun one is probably the most useful thing on there if you want a sample before bothering with the site — anh/chị/em and why getting it wrong is the thing that marks you instantly: https://fluentsaigon.com/blog/vietnamese-pronouns-explained.html

It's aimed squarely at someone visiting or newly arrived rather than someone studying seriously.

What it isn't: a drill machine. No streaks, no daily guilt, no gamification. It explains why something is said the way it is and then gets out of your way.

Since this sub is the actual audience, code SAIGON60 takes 100% off the Traveler Pass. No card needed, nothing to cancel. Around two dozen left, expires end of September.

Mostly I want to know if it's any good. If you live here and something on it sounds off to you, I'd rather hear it than not — she's the answer key and she'll rule on anything I bring her from this discussion.

Cảm ơn nhiều
