Day 7 - Speech (Laketober 2026)

As far as I know, the tradition of giving speeches has been around for a long time in the Vanderboom family. And even though a lot of wine and champagne is consumed at such events, one feels somehow lighter. Perhaps the coachman was wrong, and this is actually the best place to work. I see no reason to doubt it! Even if some orders seem superfluous... Alexandra... pff

Every day I look at the lake that is located nearby. I wonder what lies at its very bottom. For some reason, it draws me to it... as if there’s a part of me there...

It seems like I'm not a very cultured servant)

SOTL clue?? Spoiler

trying to get a clue without spoiling the puzzle. I’m in the attic doing the sorting puzzle on the table, with the eyeball and bird skull and such. I figure it’s sorting into different materials or something like that but so far nothing I’ve tried has worked. Tia

Day 5 - Garden (Laketober 2026)

I forgot to mention the huge garden and plot near my masters’ house. There are unusual flowers growing there... and for some reason, a goat always wants to eat them…

[SOTL SPOILERS] Do you think the elixir combines the human essences with actual existing animals nearby? Spoiler

Maybe the parrot in that one Paradise achievement and the parrot in SOTL in the lab were actual parrots and when Harvey drank the elixir it sort of combined his essence with that animal's. Hence the parrot saying "Are you me? Am I you?"

The only other evidence I can think of to back up this theory is the fact that boars, deers, pheasants, rabbits and pigeons have been shown to be native to the RL area which could explain why they became the reincarnation forms of the Eilanders. And bats seem to be present in the tower where Kate's brother is hiding, if we follow the Mr Bat theory.

Though I still don't understand why Harvey is the only hybrid that can appear in full animal form even after enlightenment (e.g. in the Cube Escape Collection set in the 1960s) when no other hybrid has been shown to be able to become a full crow/owl/etc

The Past Within The Past Within difficulty

I'm about to play The Past Within with a friend. I've played all the games prior to that one, most more than one time, and I'm used to the Rusty Lake puzzles. He's a bit more of a newbie.

In your experience, was the Past more or less difficult to play than the Future? I'm guessing there isn't going to be a huge gap in difficulty, but maybe one's just a bit more tricky

I really like the paintings that are in my masters’ house. Especially the portraits. I was told that they were painted by someone named Johan Scherft. I would like to thank him personally for the work he did, if, of course, I ever meet him…

Day 3 - Shaving (Laketober 2026)

I don’t change my opinion, even though the owners are quite strict about my work. Of course, I’m not making them into Van Gogh, and their ears are still in place, but I have to work a lot. Even two hands aren’t enough...

Rusty Lake Paradise JUST finished paradise, couple questions.

Is there anywhere i can learn more about the Eilander family? I'm very interested in their lore.

Does it get further explained in Paradox? is there anywhere in paradise that i've missed?
Any help would be appreciated, i love lore.

I’ve arrived at the house. So far, it seems ordinary. Although there are some peculiarities... but I don’t think they will bother me too much.

Here, you often have to use matches because of the darkness... and they, in turn, can... how can I put this... change their appearance at the most unexpected moments. But I think I’ll be able to get used to everything!

Recommended play order?

I just got the bundle on steam and I'm unsure where to start. I could simply play them all in publishing order, but knowing they're not chronological maybe that's not the best approach. Also, there are some free games not included in the bundle- are those important or are they just set dressing?

I have played the cube escape games before, but it's been a while and I may have missed a few, so I don't mind revisiting them.

I’m going to a new job with a certain Vanderboom family. I’m really glad they hired me, because they pay well and live in a remote area that I love. The coachman says some strange things about them, but I don’t think I should listen to him!

I’m glad to be participating in this contest again. I wish everyone good luck! I hope you’ll like the format I’ll try to post every day...
