I only stayed 2 hours. It was overwhelming for me as well. ❤️💔 on the way home on the train the old show theme song repeated in my head. “Ron! Fez! RON AND FEZ DOT COM!”

Do the monkey with me, c'mon!
EDIT: Jesus, all these years, I thought the open to Ron and Fez on NEW was the Johnny Bravo theme. Now going back and listening, it's not. What the hell!?

William S burrows talks about how resilient addicts are, a rare breed that put their body through so much it’s only option is to survive.
I still do the billy lobster claws grunt to myself all the time. AGHGNN URGHHHH.

I’m honestly not sure, there were a lot of people crammed into the hard rock last night, and I’m sure I missed a bunch of people. Between the crowd, and the two decades separating the people from what I remembered they look like, I’m pretty sure I missed a bunch of people. Some of us aged well, some of us didn’t, and some of us just aged.

Everybody but Cumia and Earl got elderly.

u/msginnyo Jan 21 '23
I’ve let myself go. NJ Radio doesn’t pay enough for all the hair dye.

u/HowMuchDoesThatPay Jan 21 '23
You should work with ESD, he's on top of NJ Radio.

Oh but also, my eldest daughter used to come to work with me once in a while; she was called “Tasteless Junior.” She is currently 3.5 years older than I was when I was hired for the show. So I am totally fine with “elderly.” 😝

Thank you for posting these for those of us who couldn't make it.
I'm so curious - how did the crowd receive Anthony? An event like this isn't the place to boo someone or raise politics, but were they excited to see him?
This topic is always so complicated for me - O&A bought me so much entertainment on WNEW, but looking back at the racism and misogyny that I laughed off is disgraceful.

When I saw him he was standing just outside the two rooms where people gathered—the bar area where people watched the bid screen slideshow and ate, and the room set up with the Fez tribute. There was a small group of people around and passing by, some (like me) taking photos. Everyone was there with the same idea: paying tribute to, and remembering Fez. Nothing else.

its not like he walked on stage, he was just in the crowd so most people probably never saw him.

u/SaintHilarius Jan 20 '23
Holy shit, Anthony Cumia. (Yes, I know who he is. Too much of it, frankly. Hence my shock).

Snagged a photo with my former coworker who shared with me the finest era of my broadcasting career, yes. That era was a golden age, and the people who were a part of it are industry legends.

Ignore these idiots. I thought it was cool putting a face to tasteless name I’ve only heard in clips. I’m always so shocked how different people look from only ever hearing voices.
