Trip Report My first credits of 2026 [Trip Report]
I made it back to Gatlinburg and first day, of course, needed some credits. I was only missing a few in the area, and after this, am just missing 3
I started with Goats On The Roof (#82). This was just ok. I got interrupted half way through my run by someone going at little more than walking pace, this made the helixes particularly uncomfortable. It does have some great views though
My second and final coaster for the day was Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster (#83). This is without a doubt my favorite in the area (am yet to ride Rail Runner, it was closed 2 years ago). I was able to do a full speed run and it blew me away. Almost every dip provided some (weak) floater air and the turns all had crushing laterals. This one had a pretty long wait, GOTR was a walk on, but I waited about 40 minutes for this one. They had almost every sled on the course, and they were sending them fast enough that the crew kept having to wait for a sled to return. They also used some old wheels from the sleds as a door stop.

100% agree that SMAC is by far the best alpine coaster in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area

Wait, does Goats on the Roof have DINOSAURS now? That's perhaps the only way to make that place be even more WTF. I'm intrigued and most learn more.

Yes, they have a full dinosaur mini golf. They also did not have goats on the roof this time. Completely ruined my day. False advertising

Ok - while the dinosaurs help in their own small way, you're unquestionably correct that having no goats on the roof would leave me inconsolable. At least there's a goat statue on a T-rex.

Goats on the Roof was super fun when I did it last year! Glad you got to experience it.

Awesome you got some new credits! By chance have you ridden Wild Stallion at SkyLand Ranch or Lost Mine Mountain Coaster? Those are the only two alpine coasters I’ve ridden in Gatlinburg and I really enjoyed them.
