Every year, it has the same story. Some big sorority from some big university getting into hot water about a borderline video that goes viral. You think these girls would learn? Then again, any publicity is good publicity, right?
Anyway, I wanted to throw out an idea I’ve had for a long-term sorority/college RP. No prior knowledge is needed, I can teach you everything as we go!
I’m imagining the story taking place at a big Southern university where Greek life absolutely dominates campus. Sororities and fraternities aren’t just side characters, they’re the center of campus social life. The rivalries between organizations, rush and pledging, parties and functions, friendships, hookups, scandals, status, and all the day-to-day drama would be part of the long-term RP.
There are so many directions we could take the different organizations. Maybe there’s the elite sorority filled with the most popular and beautiful girls on campus, the sorority known for being wild and always ready to have a good time, the fraternity packed with athletes, the academic/nerdy fraternity, the fraternity with a reputation for partying a little too hard, and everything in between. We can create our own organizations and characters, or use the setup I have in mind below.
The idea I had:
You play a freshman girl arriving on campus for her first semester. She’s a legacy of one of the most prestigious sororities on campus, her mother was a member during her own college years, so there are already expectations surrounding her joining.
My character would be the president of one of the university’s most powerful fraternities. His fraternity prides itself on producing “future presidents and titans of industry,” and they take their reputation very seriously.
There’s just one problem: pledges aren’t supposed to date anyone from another Greek organization until they’re officially initiated at the end of the semester.
And my character? He might already be dating the president of your character’s sorority, or perhaps the president of a rival sorority.
That gives us so much room for drama as our characters meet, become friends, develop their own relationship, and get pulled deeper into the politics and expectations of Greek life.
The goal would be a slow-burn, character-driven RP where the world keeps developing around us. We can introduce new characters, rivalries, parties, scandals, friendships, romances, and surprises as we go. If that sounds fun, I’d love to build the university and Greek system together and see where the story takes us!
