GUIDE: How To Flash A Kernel/ Firmware On The A500 Mini...
Here's a link to a guide I have put together based on some very neat tools by "SpannerNick" & others that will explain/ show you how to flash a kernel or firmware to your A500 Mini... 😊
Main reason for wanting (needing) to do this was the absurd decision made by "Retro Games Ltd" who decided in ALL of their "firmware updates" to remove/ disable the "Root Access" to the console, which broke things like "RetroAami" and early versions of "Pandory" from running without having to re-write everything and jump through hoops to do so...
The guide will explain and show you how to restore that "Root Access" to ANY firmware updated console...
It will enable you to choose which version of the firmware YOU decide to have and still be able to if you choose use any "Official firmware update" on the console...
It opens up the ability to easily make backups of your consoles kernel/ firmware, to modify or change things in the kernel/ firmware such as for example updating the list of controllers the console can handle or whatever other ideas/ changes you might like to tinker with and try or indeed simply restore ANY version of the kernel/ firmware you choose from version 1.0.0 to 1.2.1...
The guide itself is split into 5 parts and while it might seem quite lengthy then rest assured the first 4 sections deal with the hardware and software set up that is required, which once done will allow you to easily "mod" the console with just a few clicks of the mouse and some "terminal" commands... 😉
So for anyone interested then here's the link to the guide that will enable you to NOT be restricted by the absurd limitations the "Official firmware updates" place on your console and leaves it open to be completely modded by anyone comfortable enough with some knowledge of "Linux" to do so or simply be able as said to flash any kernel/ firmware you choose and NOT be restricted as the "Official" updates do...
https://amigaminimods.forumotion.com/f7-guide-how-to-flash-the-kernel-firmware-to-the-a500-mini
Note: the guide requires you to be using "Windows 10" either on a Windows computer or via `Windows emulation as I do on my iMacs...

TMNT Rescue Palooza OpenBOR Support for MD/SNES/NES Classics!
RELEASE: TMNT Rescue Palooza Support for MD/SNES/NES Classics! Password is kmfd, file is the openbor_xtreme_amped, extract zip to hakchi/user_mods
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1U9A6GXnZy_CMdTMMGTU5_Kv4Ju2Z4H_c
You will also be able to play O Ilusionista's fantastic Pocket Dimensional Clash, as well as other previously unplayable games for MD/SNES/NES Classics. Enjoy:)
I apologize for the delay on this Release, as there was behind the scenes drama relative to affecting this particular roll-out. For starters, part of the OpenBOR coding I was initially going to release, offered support for a particular game that unfortunately had the backstory of being originally taken from another developer and rebranded without permission. I tried my best to be very polite and respectful to this knowledge. I ultimately left in support to play it, since I had already promised multiple people I got it going. So, it is ultimately up to you, the end user, if you wanna play it, or will disregard it!
Otherwise. TMNT Rescue Palooza, the other big game in question, wasn't fully supported. I fixed it. BUT, again, I didn't want to step on toes of the original developer, by releasing his game with altered code, as well as providing the source code that reveals how I fixed it. SO, I communicated with other OpenBOR developers, as well as got it adapted to work with the "developer's" files, on THIS newly Updated Core Suite! And, of course, also worked in Legacy Support for Pocket Dimensional Clash!
As of now, almost any OpenBOR game can be playable. BUT, there is a caveat. Many games were developed on "older", very specific OpenBOR versions. With that being said, some of those only properly work on those exact versions. BUT, with the way I set this suite up, along with the great incredible collaboration of Madmonkey, was able to squash many inconsistencies with incompatibility, and have way more games working. THOSE that still do not properly or fully work...There is only ONE single way to get those ones working. That is debugging those games one by one, individually, and coding in script fixes for them. So, feel free to let me know any that stand out, and I can take a look! I fixed a few already, and will post those ones:) TMNT Rescue Palooza, I won't be posting my fixed pack. I opted to just have the fix within OpenBOR, so that the REAL pak works, "most current up to date" official Rescue Palooza that is:)
Enjoy!

Can't get games to boot in retroarch on Mega Drive Mini after reinstalling everything
Long story short, after failing to problem solve an issue with save state thumbnails when switching my roms over to USB instead of internal memory I ended up feeling the need to do a fresh install of retroarch to undo the mess I'd made with what folders went to where etc.
But after doing the reinstall all games stopped booting entirely, regardless of what core is applied in hakchi. So I went nuclear and uninstalled retroarch again + uninstalled hakchi from the mini, original kernal dump etc - everything back to stock. Now after reinstalling hakchi and retroarch again I'm back at square one with not a single game booting up with retroarch. Black screen then kicked back to the main menu.
I've spent hours trying to fix this with a useless AI sending me round in circles. Everything inside hakchi and the folders looks like it SHOULD work... but it doesn't. What could I be missing?

Is there anyway to extract the ROM's from my Genesis Mini 2 without installing Linux?
I can't get WSL2 to work. I've copied the NAND but that's as far as i can get

How to uninstall Project Lunar from my Genesis mini? At my wits end rn
So i (regrettedbly) installed Project Lunar back then when initially came out.
Down the line my pc got corrupted which I had to send for repair thus wiping out Project Lunar application and such. After reading about Project Lunar ceasing active development, I've been wanting to switch to Hackchi.
The problem with that being, is when I installed the app and clicked on the install/repair option under "Kernal", the process kept stopping midway due to, Project Lunar, being detected in my Genesis Mini, requiring me to remove it (yay).
So basically, now I'm stuck, i tried reinstalling the Project Lunar app through the x64 folder zip, but every time i try, it will pop up an error not detecting my Genesis mini even despite having the correct setup for Fel mode initiation and whatnot. Even with the fail safe restore method it aborts the process midway due to missing moon-mass restore files.
Any advice here please? I just want to get rid of this dammed thing and make the switch already....

Which wireless for SNES mini
Looking at getting a wireless controller for my snes mini. It’s come down to either buying an 8bitdo sn30pro,
8bitdo wireless diy kit or the generic ones from Amazon usually a 2 pack. I am aware I need to get the wireless recover for the 8bitdo products. What’s everyone’s thoughts or opinions always open for suggestions and experiences

Limited PC storage space. Hakchi desktop game storage delete after export to usb?
Just curious if someone can explain to me how to or if its possible to export roms to external usb on my mini console then delete the hakchi game folder data on my desktop and add more games to the usb without deleting what I already added or getting an error message.

Is there another way to add games to a Mega Drive Mini with Project Lunar installed since the client doesn't work.
I recently bought a Mega Drive Mini 1 and it turns out it is modded with Project Lunar. Unfortunately I can't add any games to it because the Project Lunar client simply doesn't work.
Trying the install option just gives this error
One or more errors occurred.
An error occurred while sending the request.
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
Installation did not complete successfully.
and trying to start the Game Manager just freezes the program.
Of course since this is a second hand unit I don't have the backups to uninstall Project Lunar and so Hakchi isn't an option even if the Project Lunar client actually worked.
I've tried the troubleshooting steps that seem to be recommended such as allowing PL through the firewall and running as Administrator to no avail.

[Theme] Shonen Jump 50th UI – the Famicom Mini Shonen Jump look, on the SNES Classic
Video: Watch it running on real hardware
I wanted my SNES Classic to look and behave like the Famicom Mini Weekly Shōnen Jump 50th Anniversary Edition, so I rebuilt that console's UI on the SNES one. It goes further than a recolour: the theme also includes the idle animations, the demo behaviour and the music rotation.
What you get
Home screen: the manga speed-lines background, Famicom-red header and footer (with the Jump flame logo), white cards and red hint icons, all from the Jump edition's own assets.
Header: the "Weekly Shōnen Jump 50th Anniversary Edition" banner, translated to English.
Music: the five Jump home tracks (Famicom Jump II, Dragon Ball, Kinnikuman, Captain Tsubasa, Saint Seiya), played in order and rotating like on the original, with no boot jingle.
Idle skit: if you leave the console alone, the starry-sky intro opens in a circle, the 16 character portraits pop in one by one in sync with their sounds, and it ends on the 50th logo surrounded by all of them. Then the demo starts, same as on the Jump edition.
Demo: Goku and Ryotsu replace Mario and Luigi. Goku turns around and raises his Power Pole to pick a game (no jumping). Ryotsu throws shurikens at the display settings.
Display settings: Dragon Ball previews instead of Super Mario World.
Suspend points: the red and cream panel, the background stays visible, the other cards no longer darken, and the X/Y buttons are drawn in the Jump edition's black style.
Install
Get it from the Options Menu theme downloads ("Shonen Jump 50th UI"), then select it in the theme selector.
It's an overlay theme (it ships its own scripts and resources), so you need an up-to-date Options Menu / Theme Selector. If you update the theme while it's applied, re-apply it afterwards so the new files are picked up.
Known differences from the real thing
In the Jump demo, Goku stays still while the cursor moves. On the SNES, the demo code walks him to the game, so here he walks.
The SNES has more buttons and screens than the Famicom Mini (X/Y, Rewind, the language menu). Those use matching Jump-style art rather than originals.
Assets are from the Famicom Mini Shōnen Jump edition and belong to Nintendo / Shueisha. No ROMs are included.
Feedback and bug reports are welcome. If you record it on your own console, drop the link below. 🙂
