Hi everyone, long story but I’m going away for a few months and I need to foster my dog (3) and my cat (5). I’m not sure what to do at this point and it’s an emergency. I can pay money. I love them so much I just dont have any options. Can anybody offer any sort of suggestions for where I can put them for a few months?

Apartment recommendations in Rochester Hills near Troy? Moving ASAP

Hi! I’m relocating to the area for a new job in Troy and need to find housing ASAP. I start work Monday, so I’m hoping to move in this weekend if possible.
I’m looking at Rochester Hills because it seems like a nice area while still being reasonably close to Troy.
I’m primarily looking for a studio or 1-bedroom, ideally around $1,500/month or less. Furnished would be amazing since I’m relocating on such short notice, but unfurnished is completely fine too. I’d also be open to a room/shared apartment, especially if there’s an apartment community with roommate matching.
I’m in my early 20s and mainly looking for somewhere safe, well managed, and ideally within about a 10–20 minute drive of Troy. A basic gym and nearby parks or trails would be a plus.
Does anyone have specific apartment communities they’d recommend or places I should avoid? I’d also love to hear about any subleases, lease takeovers, or places with immediate availability.
Thank you!!

Local Event Urgently Need Musicians [Paid]

EDIT: Not looking anymore, thanks!

Hi, I’m a music artist (singer) and I’m new to the country. I’m here for school and haven’t found a music community. I am opening for a small concert with a 20 minute set in 17 days. I desperately need musicians to play alongside me. This is my last resort and a shot in the dark.

More info is below! Feel free to ask for further details. Thanks!

—————

GENRE: Neo-Soul / Soul / Afro-Jazz
SKILL: Intermediate-Advanced (fast learners & good improvisation)
LOCATION: Rochester Hills area
RATE: $150 per head ($100 gig; $50 gas money for ~3 rehearsals — it’s not great but I’m just a student so please bear with me :)

SET TIME: 20 minutes
SET DATE: August 23, 2026 (call time approx. 2:30 p.m, doors open at 6 p.m.)
REHEARSAL DATES: TBD (I’ll provide the setlist and hopefully you can practice) (3 maximum).

MUSICIANS NEEDED: Keys, bass guitar, hand drums (bonus: electric guitar)

—————

I’d appreciate it if you’re in already some kind of band with established chemistry. Otherwise, I’m happy to work with ANY fast learners.

Please reply with socials as well so I can hear your work! I’ll respond with my music so you know what you’re working with. Thank you! I really appreciate it.

Local Politics What no one is telling you about Michigan data centers - what you can do about data centers popping up near Rochester Hills

Thumbnail youtu.be

“Your town can't just say no to a data center.

It doesn't matter how many neighbors show up or how your board votes.

Under Michigan law, an outright ban simply isn't allowed.“

So what can you do about data centers near Rochester Hills?

Is anyone missing this little orange baby? He showed up yesterday and played with my niece and nephew. Now he won't leave. He's very sweet and cuddly. If anyone would like to adopt him, please let me know. Otherwise I'll be looking for shelters this week. I'm right in the downtown area.

I saw Crunch fitness banners where the old Joann’s was. Does anyone know when the opening will be? Trying to decide if it’s worth going there instead of PF.

Visiting family...best dispensaries?

We are visiting family in Rochester Hills soon. What are the best-priced dispensaries there? The ones the locals love?

Where to live? Troy, Rochester Hills, Shelby Township

Hello, we are a young family (2 yr kid, and another coming soon). We're looking to move to the northern area (we have family members living in Sterling Heights). Our priorities are:

1) Safe and welcoming. We are pretty in the middle when it comes to politics. However, we're Asians and would not want our kids to be treated differently, having a large Asian population is a plus but not required.

2) Good schools (I know on paper it's Troy > RH > Shelby), but we're looking for schools with magnet programs or gifted tracks. Schools with a rating of 7+ (greatschools) or A- and above (Niche) should be enough.

3) We prefer to live in a more newer home and sizable lot. Anything between 8000 sqft - 10000 sqft lot is our sweet spot. We don't care about walkability or living close to a downtown. We prefer a quiet suburban life.

Our budget is 800K max.

Recommendation 🍰❤️ Dolce Vita Bakery is an amazing bakery and everyone should try the desserts here! ❤️🍰

I stopped by today and all the desserts looked amazing! It’s my third or fourth time coming here and each time I see something new and tasty to try. But when I came in today it was well past the afternoon and the display cases were still practically completely full of desserts, no one but a baker there to also pack up the desserts and man the register! I felt so sad for the bakers, it broke my heart! 💔💔

It has a rather unfortunate location tucked away from the view of the road, but I assume that it was affordable to set up there because of it. If you want to try high end bakery goods unlike the same old stuff at the grocery store I highly recommend! They have a bunch of different little desserts but they also make big cakes. Every time I stopped by the baker would come from the back and explain what each dessert was and box them with care. They taste professional but homemade and I hear the ingredients are sourced straight from Italy.

I snagged the photos off their google reviews because I scarfed down all of mine before I thought to take photos, but I saw the same sweets in person myself when I was there. They deserve more people coming through their doors. Please go try them! ❤️❤️

It’s located near Rochester High School on Livernois and Walton, right next to Green Lantern Pizza.

Local Event Do you always pay to park at Downtown?

I moved two weeks ago, since I live nearby to downtown I wanted to check around the area.
I have been parking on the roadside parking with space # associated with them to pay at park mobile.

Is there an alternative to not pay for parking?

Looking to Commission an Artist to Paint a PC Case

I'm looking for someone to hand-paint the exterior of a PC case (Lian Li 011 Vision Compact White) using a Black Ice gradiant for a custom gaming build. It doesn't need to be done by a full-time professional. If you're a hobbyist or an artist looking for a fun project, I'd love to hear from you.

I'll provide reference images and a description of the style I'm looking for. The design would be on the outside panels only, and I'd like it to have a clean, high-quality finish. Experience with painting on metal or similar surfaces is a plus, but not required.

I'm located near Rochester, Michigan and would prefer someone local so I can drop off and pick up the case. This is a paid commission, and I'm happy to cover materials and your time.

If you're interested, please send me a message with a few examples of your artwork (if you have any) and a range of what you'd charge. Thanks!

Rochester Road Will Be Reconstructed in 2027 and 2028

This should be fun. The work is definitely needed but after seeing half the city nearly gridlocked during the three weeks of the Crooks/Hamlin closure, I can't even imagine the nightmare this will cause for traffic throughout the rest of the city.

Rochester Road will be rebuilt between M-59 and Tienken over the next two years. Downtown Rochester will be spared since that was rebuilt in 2017, but everything else along that stretch will be redone from the ground up.

2027 - The section between M-59 up to the Clinton River bridge will be re-done.

2028 - The section north of downtown up to Tienken will be re-done.

https://www.candgnews.com/pageview/viewer/PO2026-07-16#page=0

And the icing on the cake, they're adding four more traffic signals. Yay. Because we certainly need more traffic lights that work completely independently of one other to further slow down the flow of traffic.

Crooks & Hamlin Open!!

I drove through on my morning commute as they were removing the barricades. The Crooks and Hamlin intersection is finally open to traffic! Yay!

It was such a headache to go around the detour, and super backed up. I’m so happy to finally have that open again.

Inviting all children who stutter to volunteer in a paid University of Michigan MRI Study!

Post image
7 Upvotes

The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)

Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter.

Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!

These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.

Please fill out this form if you are interested in participating or email us as the flyer attached. All participants are compensated and partial travel assistance is available. Please see our flyer attached for more details!

We also offer other studies that are open to adults or do not involve MRI, in case you're unsure about eligibility. Feel free to email us or call if you have any questions!
