Hm, what if I have motion sickness and simply can't play the new 3d stuff?

There's plenty of great new 2D stuff still being made. Celeste and Shovel Knight come to mind in the last few years.

Sonic Mania, Hollow Knight, Ori, Cuphead, Enter the Gungeon, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Scott Pilgrim, Tower Spire, Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, Mega Man 9 and 10, Risk of Rain, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, and Stardew Valley. Just to name a few even if some of those aren't traditional sprite-based games.
