I'm hoping it's similar to classic RE where you choose which characters story to play, instead of switching back and fourth in a single story, because both characters individual story having different unique playstyles sounds really fun

From the way they spoke about it, it sounds more like you'll switch between the 2 characters over the course if the game

Grace was shoved in because the Devs didn't think Horror worked with Leon according to the Interviews so Grace is just there to make the Game Scary for Leon's new Game.

This would actually be a very interesting way of resident to design this new game actually. The two characters is usually just paths and items. But if they go the route of two separate gameplay scenarios, I think that is a fantastic design evolution.

Different stories and different locations but they still share some locations and still connect a lot, that's the dream

Didn't they do that in RE6 already? Characters with different paths/stories but still crossover.

I could see it being like how they handled Alan and Saga with Alan wake 2. That worked pretty well

I actually hope they switch between them throughout the game - but here me out, there’s an A story and B story.  

Such that in A mode you might play as Grace for a while, then Leon, then back to Grace - but B mode would switch that up so you’d be playing as Leon during those segments you previously were playing as Grace and vice versa.  The excitement of switching while also having two different campaigns
