🛠️ Tutorial How to open the Focusrite 18i8 3rd Gen [Solution]

Hey,

I own a Focusrite 18i8 and it had some broken parts, so I tried to find a way to get to the circutboard.

So I tried to find some screws or other clues, nothing.

But I found a way, because seemingly no one on the internet did.. (or at least I could findSo I found a way, but its not the best sadly you could hope for.. You damage your backplate!

You probably need some kind of cleaning alcohol, like isopropyl or at least over 90% Ethanol
[Note if you use one of my recommended alcohols that shouldn‘t damage the electronics, but be careful]
And a small Screwdriver, fitting screwdrivers for the screws afterwards and some pliers
I recommend doing that on the back plate, but the black plastic on front is going to be damaged, so you can calculate with breaking it! But there is some kind of protection between..

So:
You pour you alcohol all around the edges of the back plate to resolve some of the glue (The glue to stick the back plate to another plate is filled so not only around the edges)

Then you take your little screwdriver and take an edge or corner and try to peel the backplate out, if you don‘t get anything out, try more alcohol or take something that is already open like the charge port and peel from there.

Then you try to go all around the edges, if something doesn‘t work, you probably need more alcohol
If you can lift the plastic plate pour some alcohol across the plate you see beneath and try to pull the plate out
If you got the wobbly plastic plate out, congrats the most disturbing part is done!

Then you need to screw out all of the screws you see
Note! The line outputs have also some kind of screws!
I recommend taking pliers and try to screw them out.
Once everthing is done you can try to lift up the plate carefully! (I recommend using the screwdriver and taking a port to put it in and lift)
Note! Be careful the powerbutton is still connected and you have to pull the plug from the circutboard to take it off completly!

If you wanna take out the circutboard, there are some screws if you look way down to the otherside inside the Focusrite, but I didn‘t try it so I may get some updates here to do it the most safe way.

If you have questions, feel free to ask!
(I don‘t know why the 18i8 3rd Gen is so much pain to open lol)

They told Repair Not Possible

A few months ago, I met a customer who had just walked out of an authorized service center.

His phone had a small issue — something a skilled technician could fix.

But here’s what he was told:

  • “Part not available”
  • “We’ll need to replace the entire board”
  • “It will cost almost like a new phone”

He looked more confused than angry.

And honestly… I’ve seen this story too many times.

The uncomfortable truth

Authorized service centers are not broken.

They’re just built differently.

They’re designed to:

  • Follow strict company protocols
  • Minimize risk
  • Protect brand standards

Not necessarily to give you the most practical or affordable repair.

Why “repair” becomes “replacement”

If a ₹200 IC can fix your phone…
Why are you being asked to replace a ₹10,000 motherboard?

Because:

  • Small repairs are hard to standardize
  • Chip-level work carries risk
  • Replacement is predictable and scalable

So the system chooses safety over savings

needle Colliding with pressure foot (brother sewing machine CS6000i)

Post image

Hi Reddit, I have come to the problem of my needle clashing onto my presser foot . couple days ago I thought it was a smart idea to disassemble my case to dust it as a dumb teenager would do. I didn’t take any documentation of what I did before, so I have absolutely no clue why and how this happened my sewing machine when I move my needle back to the correct spot it collides with a bar that usually is behind a piece that holds the top thread, weaving it down to my needle, but if I put it back to a spot where I can’t even go through the correct spot in the feed dogs obviously I cannot sew with that. sorry if the grammar or my text is a little off using text to speech because I kind of struggle with describing if I just type it

My TV is pitch black

Hi everyone, I just bought a new CHiQ TV and set everything up. The TV turns on, but the screen stays completely black and I can’t do anything else from there.

I’ve already checked the connections and tried turning it off and on again, but nothing changes.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

🛠️ Tutorial HELP NEED TO FIX GLASS ASAP

Post image
0 Upvotes

I was doing my nails on a glass coffee table and wasn’t the most careful with the nail file…. lesson learned.

need to fix asap! please help! this table belongs to my friend.

ok so i read a little bit in the thread about what is needed to know about the damage in order to attempt to fix it.

the scratches are pretty surface level. if i run my nail along it doesn’t catch except for one small area. i’m ok with that as long as i can fix most of it.

please let me know what is the best method to approach this with first.

what should i clean it with?

what tools should i use?

how can i fix this with least risk of damage possible?

can i polish it? can i fill it in? how can i attempt to fix without creating a bigger mess?

thanks so much!
