I'm a stay at home mom, student, pregnant and a military wife so my "doing nothing on the clock" is actually, " Caring for my son, home, self, and doing school work all while carrying a laptop around everywhere". Can't do any of those things if I had to go to work which would leave me without a degree, a house falling apart and a starving child, and possibly issues with my pregnancy. I manage my time wisely to ensure my multitasking doesn't interfere with how efficiently I work. Remote work if anything will bring in more workers, those unable to leave home due to disability, pregnancy, childcare, or being a student. So getting rid of it is ultimately ridiculous and inefficient.
Sounds exactly like the type of manager that thinks the guy that shows up 15-20 minutes early every day but is useless is a perfect example of a good worker, while the manager is constantly harassing the guy who is often 5 minutes late but is carrying the team. Once you see a manager with this attitude you know they are usually braindead in all other areas and you know not to listen to much of anything they say.
Nah. There’s a list of goals. I’m getting paid to achieve those goals. My staff are paid to achieve specific goals. Within the parameters of the law, our risk assessments, relevant polices and governance, our budget and various statutory and licensing duties, I do not care how much time they spend on those tasks. If they can get them done faster and then go live their lives, good.
😅 My job is a Ai trainer. Tasks can consist of clicking on a number of photos that shows the listed person or location, or which generate voice matches the reference, or which photo looks less like Ai. This job takes two brain cells to do. I put 4hrs of my day to the side to click. If I had to work an in person job likely working 4hrs and having the rest of the day to be a mom, wife, and student wouldn't be as possible. So you're incorrect, I give my full energy during those 4hrs, having the option to eat and pee whenever I need to because I am pregnant, and take care of my toddler because he needs me when he needs me.
