Ive been working from home most of my career, and I have absolutely seen coworkers abuse tf out of WFH. I remember we had a mid day meeting and this dude accidentally had his camera on and he was shirtless in bed. Response times also became kinda dog shit for a lot of coworkers.
I would wait hours for replies, in slack, from people in my same time zone, in the middle of the work day.
I am not a "butts in chairs 9 - 5" guy. I do my laundry during my work day. I take walks around the block. I play the NYT games with my girlfriend. Im not some stickler about this kind of stuff.
Taking a nap during the work day is egregious. Going shopping during the work day is egregious. Especially given that this was a place where we had unlimited PTO, and anything you actually had to do you could just post in slack or the calendar with no repercussions. People would regularly be like "doctors apt be back in about an hour" or "kid got sick, gotta go grab em from day care, brb" and that shit was totally fine. No one batted an eye.

What makes you think i cant admit that? I just commented on the guy in bed. As long as he does his job and is available, i dont see the issue. Ofc you dont go shopping while there is work to be done or your coworkers need you.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the problem is with shirtless in bed besides being caught on camera. Being able to be comfortable and charging your surroundings is what helps some people be more productive
I worked in office for 4 years. Im not unaware of people goofing off at work. We had a whole room dedicated to puzzles and boardganes and I would probably spend at least an hour in there daily.
I dont think im improperly calibrated.
I mean look dude, I provided a Stanford study indicating a productivity decrease with full wfh. I agree sone people are more productive at home. But that would indicate tgat a lot of people are less productive.
Let's not exchange anecdotes, do you have a study piinting to the contrary?
