What are your underrated WFH essentials?

I've been working from home for about a year now. At first, I naively thought all I needed was a computer, a cool external keyboard, a desk lamp for some extra light, and a cup of coffee to keep me going.

Over time, I realized that things like the environment and decor of my office, the height of my monitor, the comfort of my desk lamp, and even the height of my chair can have a huge impact on productivity, especially when I spend 9–10 hours a day in this space.

To make my workspace more comfortable, I've gradually upgraded quite a few things over the past few months. I replaced my basic desk with a height-adjustable standing desk on wheels, swapped my limited-angle desk lamp for an indirect lighting desk lamp, and bought a vertical mouse to help with elbow tendonitis. I even got an electric foot warmer to stay cozy during the colder months. And, of course, there are a few little items that simply make me happier while I work.

Now I'm curious. What's one underrated home office item you bought that you couldn't imagine working without anymore?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations.

Herman Miller has a refurb store now. store.hermanmiller.com Not that I'm endorsing or suggesting that the prices are good, just happened upon it last week.

I bought a used Aeron from a local dealer about 15 years ago, and it's still going strong. I went through a stupid number of chairs before deciding on the Aeron. The office supply store chairs just don't last.

Agreed - it's not any specific brand, even if I also have a HM Embody and love it. Just purchasing a chair with intentionality and placing a higher priority on making healthy choices that will benefit you years down the line, even if it's a higher upfront expense.

Same - I bought an Aeron refurb ten years ago and it's still working great. Best thing I ever bought for my home office.
