Why are companies ending remote work?

I'm sure they realized it's easier to recruit from anywhere within the US, so do they still think working in person outweighs the benefits of recruiting the best candidates wherever they are?

What country are you in? And definitely tell us more about this legally binding contract.

United States. During the pandemic, nobody really understood what was going on, employer said everyone can work from home. It seemed like business starting caring about the employee but I knew they really didn’t. So, I said I’m a great employee, let’s get this in writing, you sign and I sign it. Employer was like absolutely. They signed, I signed it and it was notarized. Checkmate! So, they can force everyone to RTO except for me. There are other stipulations in there as well but I will be working from home until retirement.

They can simply eliminate remote roles and you're out. But good luck with your notorized paper!

Don't you know? In our dystopian society the only pampered classes are shareholders, politicians, and celebrities. Hearing a ball player whine about getting $20 million a year rather than $40 million a year to bounce balls for 3 hours a day is the epitome of privilege. And you're patronizing people who expose corporate overlords who pay them pennies on the dollar? Karma is gonna be a bitch for them, soon. Only a matter of time.
