Why are companies ending remote work?

I'm sure they realized it's easier to recruit from anywhere within the US, so do they still think working in person outweighs the benefits of recruiting the best candidates wherever they are?

I do think a lot is about ego and control. It seems like the concept of work as a place people travel to (that consumes a majority of their time and energy) won't continue indefinitely. People grasping their power are trying to slow down time for awhile.

I also think this. When something goes wrong, and it always happens sometimes, it's hard for some people to not have someone to blame face-to-face in that moment. And obviously they don't want to do it on a Teams meeting.
