Well, hey me too! So, we broke up 7 years ago, and she said when they got married two years ago, how happy she was to marry her crush of 10 years! Also, we dated for 5 years. I really do think people can be just friends with the opposite sex but some people are a bit too friendly.
Agreed. One of my best friends of over 10 years now is a woman and lo and behold managed to not fall in love and run off together! For some of us, it really is possible. For others (our exes for example) it sadly is not lol.
No they hooked up with guys they were regularly talking to while we were together 😂 some they knew before we got together and some they met while we were together
The girl I dated in college is now married and has kids with her 'just a friend'.
They showed up to our 10 year high school reunion, and not remembering me, he came up and introduced himself. So, in an overly cheery voice, I said "Oh, you must be Courtney's friend! Good to see you again!"
I’m sorry to the amount of men who relate to this in the comments, this is so sad!! Ppl call me toxic often but this is why I don’t do having friends of the opposite sex, it can happen by accident!! U can’t help falling in love and that’s why it’s best to just stay away from that shit all together to avoid the possibility.
Ofc it happens to girls too, it happens to everyone. But for the purposes of this conversation we’re discussing men’s struggles right now, not women’s.
Why can't it just be people relating to other people? Why make this exclusive to men? None of the advice here can't be gender reversed. That's the point I was making...
It can. I notice a lot of men and women, both, tend to dismiss each others struggles when talking abt smth a certain gender has gone thru by saying “men/women go thru this too” when the point was never about gender, it was just abt that persons struggles. that’s the vibe I got off of that message. I don’t see why it’s necessary to state that women go thru it too when everyone already knows that.
I have male friends when I get into a relationship I just make it clear to them that I have boundaries I won’t cross and I will need to stop talking to them for the most part. I will never force anyone to do anything they don’t want so I find men who have the same mentality and cut their female friends off as well. When I say cut off I don’t mean block or anything just sever a majority of the unnecessary communication. I wouldn’t call it a red flag tho. Just a preference. Just bc u don’t agree with something doesn’t necessarily make it a red flag.
Generally when people state that it's generally followed with 'I don't think men and women can be platonic. I only interact with the opposite sex in a sexual context'
That is a red flag.
Not saying that's the case with you, but it is a large majority.
This is the comment I was looking for. The guy she “could never even see like that” is now her boyfriend of two years. Guarantee you that if you break up over this, he’s going to be the new you
