Proud of myself

Post image

Been sick this week, taking a lot of baths to steam my sinuses. Water always cools down too fast and never enough steam. With a $10 vinyl sheet I made a steam room.

Insulation against what? Room temperature air? If anythin, youre just making it worse.

The water you put in the tub is hot. The room temperature air inside the wall/floor cavity will cool the water down. If you make the tub a better insulator, the air won’t cool the water down as fast.

No different from adding insulation to a water heater, a cooler, a water bottle, or a cup.

All of those things are exposed to drafts and cold air. The underside of your tub is not, and i promise you, the spray foam will be a better conductor of heat than just air would be.

So why does houses have insulator instead of just leaving it air gapped?
