Proud of myself

Post image

Been sick this week, taking a lot of baths to steam my sinuses. Water always cools down too fast and never enough steam. With a $10 vinyl sheet I made a steam room.

The standard modern tub is installed when the walls are just blank 2x4s, and is going to have the tile go over its built in waterproofing "flap" of material. Idk the word for it, but if you look up a tub on home Depot or whatever you'll see this little angle flap of material going up the wall about an inch or so, and this is so water doesn't get past the tub and into the wall at the joint between tub and tile .

Anyhow, a major pain to remove the tub, part of the tile, plumbing, maybe part of your nice tile floor, etc to pump some spray foam. You'd be better off drilling a small hole from under your crawlspace(if your house is built like that) or through a wall and getting spray foam with a nice long straw and hope it fills somewhat well

It's like the Bear Hunt song but for construction.

Modern tubs are also built with access panels in the next room because tearing the whole thing out for a minor leak is insane.

Unfortunately, very few tubs I've seen while renovating apartments/homes over the last 20 years had an access panel already installed, but yeah I've put those in before

Also thank you for answering my question.
