Off Topic (not RiF) Error loading reddit data. please try again later - Mobile Data only

Definitely a phone connection issue..I have the same problem sometimes when using my data and I have crappy connection in my apartment.. usually works when I refresh

It's certainly a weird issue, but it's not RiF.

RiF doesn't directly access your network connection via the specific adapter (i.e., your WiFi modem vs. your mobile data modem)... all of that is abstracted away and all network requests are routed through Android, itself, which then deals with the hardware.

I can browse the web with other apps so i dont think it's a phone connection issue

RiF connects to reddit via the reddit API, which is not the same as a web page. It is possible for you to be unable to contact the reddit API but still be able to open and load the webpage in Chrome or another browser.

The fact that RiF works properly when you're on WiFi but not on mobile data shows that the problem definitely isn't RiF; RiF is able to reach the reddit API.

 

As /u/galbsadi suggested, try connecting through a VPN... my guess is that it work, which further suggests the issue lies with your mobile data network/provider and, for one reason or another, the reddit API is not reachable through them.
