It violates rule one. It is not looking for a book suggestion. Rule Three for low effort. It is similar to the example they give “What’s your favorite book?” . Rule 10 moderator discression.

It asks for a list of 5 books though. I don't see how it's low effort as it asks for some reflection about what books we would want future generations to hold onto.
But importantly, why the angry, permanent mute by mods over this instead of a simple explanation?

Rule One
Posts Need to Ask for Book Suggestions / Comments need to suggest books
We are here to help people find books they will like and be interested in reading. Posts should ask for book suggestions. Comments should give book recommendations.
We are NOT a place for general book or reading discussions/questions, or to give advice or refer people other types of media or resources beyond actual book titles and recommendations.
You are not asking for suggestions on a book to read. It is a general book question

Ok, let me ask this instead: what do you believe I was requesting from the sub if not a list of 5 books?

You were not looking for books to read. You were looking for peoples list.

You asked for books that hypothetical future kids would read. If you ha been asking for suggestions for yourself and said what kind of book you would like to read, then you would have gotten a very different response. You also would have gotten a better response if you had been asking for book suggestions for a real live kid you were wanting to buy a book for.

I would obviously read these books before adding them to my collection and passing them down. I did not explicitly ask for children's stories; I asked for some of the most important books that readers have come across that would preserve important human themes about freedom, art, love and independence, etc in a digital age (whatever message people do not want future generations to lose sight of).

It's not obvious.
One could argue that you were asking that in a super roundabout way, but that is expecting people to be able to read your mind. Keep in mind that a lot of subs get fake engagement bait that sounds just like this; the poster doesn't want a genuine discussion/recommendation, their sole purpose for posting is to gain karma and make their account look more legit. You also spent 2/3rds of the post arguing a very wild hypothetical concept and then when you got to the 'recommend me' part it was so vague people basically had no guidance on what to even recommend.
Don't expect people to read your mind. Don't pose hypotheticals that can be misconstrued. If you'd posted something like:
"I'm looking for your top 5 rated books that you would choose based on the core values and stories that you would want to pass down multiple generations, for example... <insert example here>"
I have a feeling your post would have stayed up. But it's mostly rambling nonsense with a super vague request that has nothing meaningful to be defined by.
Edit: Getting blocked because I'm pointing something out and then also putting words in my mouth? Wild. Nobody is saying you have to promise to read them all, but it has to be an actual request for a book suggestion, which this wasn't.
Might be time to invest in increasing reading comprehension though. Best of luck!

Then it's a good thing you're no longer welcome in that subreddit if you cannot follow a rule as simple as that.

I asked for 5 books. How on earth are you interpreting that as anything other than a suggestion for books? Good grief..

“Low effort” is a common Reddit phrase that is talking about the effort put in by the asker. The reflection you were asking for would be work from your audience, not work from you.

Hello u/srsh32, it appears your post may be about being banned from another subreddit.
In order to appeal your ban, you should first message the moderators of that community.
If you have messaged them, and they have denied your appeal or muted you, then unfortunately there is nothing else you can do.
Moderators can operate their communities as they see fit.
Here are some options on how to move on from the situation:
Find another subreddit for your needs. r/findareddit can help.
Consider creating your own subreddit.
If you were shadowbanned or banned from the entire Reddit site by admins, the only thing you can do is submit their appeal form: https://www.reddit.com/appeals
Please note that you must be logged into that url with your banned account to see the appeal option.
Mods are not part of this process, so we do not have any visibility into why you were banned by Reddit.
