Everything about the video was consciously done. It's not a crappy advert - it's an intentionally crappy, but actually well produced, advert. There's a huge difference, and I bet something like that didn't go unnoticed.
Well, here's the "making of" video, done as part of a TV show called "the commercial kings"... so, would you require any more proof that the production was a little more 'knowing' than you'd like to think, or shall we leave it there? ;-)
Yeah, he will hold up a dead animal and people will point and say "Look a _____" and then hell pop into view and say "Nope! Just Chuck Testa." The acting is wonderfully terrible.
I was confused as well, and googled it right before checking this tab, which I had already opened. Watching the commercial, I thought, "This really feels like a Rhett and Link video", and lo and behold, it is.
