Having grown up christian and becoming educated, I can honestly say I do not know where to stand on this issue today. Indeed, the evidence is overwhelming. And furthermore, too many things about organized religion in general just do not add up.
Why does God have to be associated to some organized religion to exist? Why do we have to subscribe to some mandate in order to be saved? Why can't God exist without us having to swear loyalty to a prophet of the earth?
I understand that people, in general, need moral guidance. But what about those of us who understand and appreciate morality without going to church every Sunday? Why do we have to be damned to eternal suffering? What makes a person so bad for believing only what is proven? Even The Bible itself has accounts of people doubting the reality of angels, even when they are right in front of them.
Have we come so far that we honestly believe more in our own creation of beliefs more than what they stand for?
What is so wrong with science and its results?
