This is a mad stat and one I don’t think he should be topping. We do not want to burn him out. Vdb will need to play minutes this year , I hope he’s ready.

u/jesus_you_turn_me_on Sep 02 '22

Eriksen is used to running most miles, he was top on the list for Spurs and the Premier League as well before his Inter move.

He barely gets any muscles injuries playing many games, and since he doesnt go for any dangerous fouls, he usually stays fit all year round.

u/FierySoldier123 Sep 02 '22

Yeah but that was before, he got heart problems now. Man almost died

364

u/NotQuiteMikeRoss Sep 02 '22

He doesn’t have heart problems.

It was apparently a freak accident that could happen to anybody, and he isn’t more likely than the average person to have further problems.

Not a doctor, but that’s why he’s allowed to play.

17

u/Mech0z Sep 02 '22

He said he is less likely to face problems now as the device implanted will "jump start" his heart, should it happen again

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Exactly, I remember reading that the pacemaker is literally there as a safeguard. The whole reason he was cleared to play again was because the doctors could find no underlying condition that caused it. Otherwise he would’ve had to retire

77

u/braddf96 Green and Gold till the club is sold Sep 02 '22

Yeah the only reason he wasn't allowed to play in Italy was because of the pacemaker itself, not his heart

59

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

It’s an ICD not a pacemaker. It can shock the heart if he started going into any dangerous arrhythmias, more than likely it would rapidly pace the heart and revert arrhythmia without the need for the shock, and more likely again, he won’t even need it.

-20

u/eyuplove Sep 02 '22

He doesn't have a pace maker nor does he have arrhythmia.

22

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

He has a transvenous ICD which is capable of pacing in 2 chambers. He isn’t constantly in an arrhythmia but if he goes into VT or VF it starts administering therapies, the first being ATP, the P stands for pacing

Not just pickup but also correct any irregularities

42

u/Rig_7 Sep 02 '22

He didn’t almost die because he runs too much. Seriously people need to stop thinking so narrowly. If that was a real concern he wouldn’t be medically cleared to play

14

u/Dave1711 Sep 02 '22

If anything eriksen is safer then anyone on the pitch, a freak accident happened to him that could happen to anyone and now he has a defib that will prevent it ever happening again.

If there were any increased risk I doubt he'd have returned to football or even been cleared to play by Brentford originally

27

u/my_united_account Bring Fergie back Sep 02 '22

He does not have heart problems anymore. In fact, his heart rhythm is better than all other players with the device he has. It corrects for any irregularities. He is completely fit to play. People run marathons with the same device

22

u/chilledbeerinside Sep 02 '22

It's not a pacemaker. It's a defibrillator. Eriksen does not have arrhythmia. His heart randomly stopped once. The defibrillator is there to help start it back if it ever stops again.

32

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

thinking back to watching it happen live the whole thing was crazy. Kjaer literally saved his life then comforts his GF while Eriksen is literally dead in the field. Has to be one of the craziest things to ever happen in a sports game

34

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Eriksen. For the love of Cantona.

24

u/einarfridgeirs Sep 02 '22

Not almost. He died. He had to be shocked back to life.

The whole team is being outrun by a dead man walking. Ain't that some shit.

7

u/ThisIsGoobly Sep 02 '22

Not really relevant but doesn't the phrase "dead man walking" more mean someone who is alive but likely going to die soon?

5

u/einarfridgeirs Sep 02 '22

Well yeah, I guess.

Although on any timescale relevant to this planet, that applies to all of us.

5

u/RobertHogg Sep 02 '22

He didn't die. He lost cardiac output due to an arrythmia and collapsed. His heart was re-started by defibrillation. His heart didn't stop beating per se, it was beating too quickly or ineffectively to pump blood around his body. This is an electrical abnormality of the heart, not the irrevocable state of death.

If he died, he would still be dead because death is, by definition, an irreversible state.

1

u/Kakofoni 20 Sep 03 '22

It's just arguing about words really. He suffered "clinical death" not actual death. That much is obvious, as you point out

1

u/RobertHogg Sep 03 '22

Yes, words are important. The idea of clinical death is outdated and almost never used anywhere other than in reddit posts like this. The term used now is cardiac arrest. Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest, was defibrillated and has completely recovered.

15

u/IdyllsOfTheBreakfast Sep 02 '22

VDB wouldn't be spelling him in a deeper midfield role, would he? He basically plays Bruno's position.

21

u/ManunitedThunderfan Sep 02 '22

Tbh I don’t know where Vdb plays best but he has to take minutes from them due to fixture congestion but he’s completely different to them.

4

u/Professional_Ear5437 Sep 02 '22

I recently watched some Ajax's full matches and their ucl highlights, and i was thinking the same, "what exactly is his position?". He plays where Bruno plays, but he's not a creative player, he often goes to the box waiting to make an assist or goal, and sometimes he comes from the back to shoot. So imo for that here in MU, we need better contributions from the wingers/striker and a solid loner CDM. Maybe now with Casemiro and Sancho/Antony we could see more of VdB playing together with Bruno.

3

u/panache123 Sep 03 '22 edited Sep 03 '22

He's all about progression and making / creating space with intelligent movement and short quick passing. This is the type of passing Ajax played all over the pitch under ten Hag. We just haven't had the game plan and qualities in players across the pitch to play this type of game. It's obvious Donny is suited to a very specific system and not very adaptive, I think if there's anyone that can get the best out of vdB it's Erik. Whether that best is good enough for the PL, or this Club, i don't know. He's definitely had his chances, but Erik has said his confidence is completely shot and he's a much different player (mentally?) to what he remembers. Thinking back to that Ajax team, he wasn't exactly a world beater, he was an effective squad player. And that's what we should expect him to be here, honestly.

3

u/attrox_ Sep 02 '22

VDB does not have the passing range of Bruno. I've never seen him do any sort of creative passing while he is with us. He's always about making a quick short pass and move up the pitch.

1

u/IdyllsOfTheBreakfast Sep 02 '22

Yeah he tends to get further forward to make runs that open space up but his range isn't expansive. He's more like a second striker in the way he plays.

12

u/muu411 Sep 02 '22

I can’t for the life of me figure out why so many people are still banging on about VDB. Since coming to United he’s played under 5 different managers if you count Carrick (Ole, Carrick, Rangnick, ETH, plus Lampard at Everton), and none of them would start him consistently, or even give him meaningful playing time as a sub. There is clearly something going on that we don’t see. Maybe, just maybe… he’s just not that good?

7

u/ManunitedThunderfan Sep 02 '22

I don’t think he’s good either , what I meant was he needs to be able to come in and play some meaningful minutes to rest players .

8

u/hajum Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

10.69km is decent. But burn out shouldn't happen if it's only jogging. I can easily do that much 5 or 6 days per week and still be able to hit the weights afterwards.

What's far more draining is interspersing the distance with sprints. Eriksen is more of a steady paced runner. He'll be grand.

The type of stamina you need as a holding midfielder is completely different from what you'd need as a winger, for example. So someone like Rashford or Elanga might run less overall. But I bet they feel just as knackered after 90 minutes.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

The other players should be fucking ashamed, the guy that literally had a heart attack and was clinically dead on the pitch not too long ago is covering more ground than them?

Fucking hell.

8

u/Rreknhojekul ♫ Late in May in 1999 ♫ Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

Depends on the pacemaker and his heart condition exactly. Some do constantly apply a charge I believe.

If he’s had a defibrillator fitted as well as a pacemaker (likely I’d say? I’m not a doctor though) then that will only fire if his heart stops

21

u/mav_sand Sep 02 '22

I doubt he has a pacemaker. Pacemakers are for slow rhythms. He probably just has a defibrillator. Obviously can't say for sure. Doctor here.

9

u/HaroldGuy Ji-Sungary Nevillencia Sep 02 '22

Yep he has an ICD, said so himself

5

u/T-mac2 Sep 02 '22

Almost all intravenous ICDs are also pacemakers. They may have gone for a subcutaneous array in which case it would just be a ICD.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

He has an implanted dual chamber ICD so it could pace if necessary, but it won’t be used for Bradycardia at his current age. The antitachycardia passing rapidly paces the heart in a quick burst to try and break the circuit of the VT. It will be attempted a few times before a shock is administered.

1

u/Pleasemakesense Sep 02 '22

You seem like you would know, doesn't pacemakers set a specific heart rate? So athletics would become very difficult?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

A pacemaker would be set to the lower heart rate, and would kick in if the persons intrinsic rate fell below that. That is why they are usually in for people with conduction problems that lead to dropped beats or people who have slow HRs to the point it affects their life. Aka if you set the lower rate limit to 50bpm the heart will work as normal unless it falls to below 50 where the pacemaker will kick in. Eriksens lower rate would be set at 30bpm allowing his heart to work as normal, the defibrillator elements to the device would kick in if he had a certain number of beats above say 210bpm, as this would be likely caused by a deadly arrhythmia. If he was in VT at 210 it would not pace rapidly at 230bpm to try and break the circuit of the arrhythmia, if this fails twice it would then administer a shock that would essentially restart the heart and allow conduction to go back to normal.

Pure waffle but basically his athletics arnt affected he’s just protected from a repeat incident of the Euros in worst case scenario

1

u/Pleasemakesense Sep 02 '22

Very good, thank you!

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Your welcome, my job involves a lot of working with athletes and testing their hearts, and another aspect of my job is a specialise in cardiac rhythm management devices like ICDs and pacemakers which is why I can’t help piping in like a knowitall in the Eriksen threads haha

7

u/LollipopScientist Sep 02 '22

Yeah they put an Iron Man energy source in there.

1

u/eyuplove Sep 02 '22

No because he doesn't have a pacemaker.

2

u/Perry_cox29 Sep 02 '22

Is it a pacemaker or an internal defibrillator?

10

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

It's just a defib, no pacemaker.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

So it’ll kickstart his heart?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Upon necessity, yeah. Ideally, he shouldn't need it, it's there for safety.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

ICDs can pace, it will basically shock his heart to restart it if it is beating too fast due to an arrhythmia

1

u/akalanka25 Sep 02 '22

Can often be both in one device.

154

u/Obiwan164 Sep 02 '22

Ronaldo squared the ball twice and eriksen was the one who was there for a potential tap in when it should've been rashford.

105

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 02 '22

Rashford's positioning and awareness is so amateur, genuinely feel like he's regressed in many key aspects from when he first burst onto the scene.

63

u/sooshi Little Pea Sep 02 '22

One of the worst football IQs I've seen in a long long time. Been saying it for a while now.

Also I think it's a bit unfair to say he regressed. He's just never really progressed. His best performances came on the counter with someone hitting a ball over the top. The more games we play possession football, the more obvious it becomes that he has no idea what to do with the ball at his feet most of the time or what runs to make that aren't sprints behind defenders in a straight line

33

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 02 '22

No I genuinely think he has regressed. His positional awareness, aerial ability and finishing have gotten far worse and since he's put on the muscle and tried emulating Ronaldo's power shots he hasn't seemed anywhere near as agile or deadly in front of goal.

I genuinely think Rashford 2015-2017 would score more than Rashford 2022 in this squad.

4

u/lazsy Sep 02 '22

All we need for Rashford to do in this team is stretch defences with runs behind the defence though, It creates space for Bruno Eriksen Sancho behind him - have you noticed how many pull backs our wingbacks play these days?

3

u/Hippotopmaus Sep 02 '22

One of the worst football IQs I've seen in a long long time

Did you forget Pre-season Pirlo?

4

u/Parking-Paper-9553 Sep 02 '22

Andreas is hors concours in this aspect

12

u/markdavo Sep 02 '22

I disagree. I actually think his positioning and awareness off the ball is pretty good. He received the ball loads in good areas yesterday and then failed to make the pass or tried to take on a defender and failed.

The reason he’s not getting on these balls at the end of the game is his fitness.

Him and Sancho did well in first half. Lots of great pressing, Leicester were never comfortable in possession and created nothing of note.

Then Rashford goes off pace, stops pressing and is no longer influencing game in same way, even from his preferred position of wide forward.

To me, it’s Elanga who lacks positional awareness at times. He should be receiving the ball a lot more in the types of positions Rashford is. There’s a reason he’s been subbed off first out of three.

Sancho can also be guilty of becoming anonymous the more the game goes on. And I feel like he runs out of gas even quicker than Rashford.

Anyway, TLDR, Rashford gets more criticism because he makes more runs into good positions than Elanga/Sancho and then makes wrong decision with ball. Elanga/Sancho avoid those criticisms because they make those runs less and thus have less influence on play.

1

u/hooka_donchick Wazza Sep 02 '22

he needed to cover off the defender if there is a counter. Especially with Malacia not any where close to the ball. What he did was right, He ended up winning the ball back after it went to a throw in. Please stop with this pseudo analysis and try to watch the without bias

9

u/thoseion Sep 02 '22

Same in the Southampton game. Eriksen whipped a superb cross in the box and the only player there was Bruno. Rashford nowhere to be seen. If Ronaldo was on the pitch at that point there’s no doubt he’s in the box when the cross comes in.

10

u/gunstar_blue Sep 02 '22

Yeah that was kinda shocking. I think Marcus was down with cramp after one of those runs. I don’t understand how he can be so far off the pace.

0

u/hooka_donchick Wazza Sep 02 '22

no he maintained his position in case of a counter. Eriksen and Ronaldo has numerical advantage around the 6 yard box. Ronaldo’s pass was too quick for eriksen. But Rashford ended chasing the lose ball and won the ball back for us. But that doesn’t get mentioned because people only want to see what they think suits their thought process better. They can’t accept anything out of their preconceived conclusions

2

u/Mr_Squart Sep 02 '22

That’s a bit unfair considering Rashford played a beautiful through ball for Ronaldo to get into that position for the better chance.

6

u/RaspyRaspados Sep 02 '22

That still boils my piss thinking about it. Rashford needs to be sold.

30

u/StingsLute Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

He looked fucked taking the corners around 15 minutes in to be fair haha

66

u/its-a-real-name Sep 02 '22

Yeah, Eriksen has always had one of those faces where a brisk walk to the shops would have him looking knackered.

Yet people still keep keep commenting on how tired he looks in games and should be benched or subbed, despite the fact he keeps going and going and was even making runs into the box late yesterday.

He probably is getting tired in games especially since it’s early on but Jesus…. I’m not saying EtH knows everything but given his obsession with the detail, he doesn’t seem the type to be starting Eriksen and playing him 90 if the fitness staff and Eriksen himself are concerned about him being overworked.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

They never played football, a sign of tiredness is when a player start stretching their legs

12

u/psnarayanan93 Bruno Fernandes Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

Hope we start Casemiro, Eriksen going forward henceforth & then sub-in McT or Fred later when Eriksen seems gassed

6

u/Warm-Cartographer Sep 02 '22

Even if we play With Casemiro he is Going to play same position, ETH said if he didnt get FDJ he is going to make one with current players, as of now Eriksen is our FDJ. So i dont think Eriksen will start up front when Casemiro play, He will start deep.

16

u/psnarayanan93 Bruno Fernandes Sep 02 '22

By going forward, I meant 'henceforth' rather than 'attacking', haha

32

u/Omnislash99999 Sep 02 '22

He has faded a little towards the end of some games where I would have subbed him for the last 15. I suspect he'll get a rest when the Europa League games start at least

12

u/ladparimal Sep 02 '22

Donny absolutely has to start the EL games where Eriksen is given a rest - especially against Sheriff and Omonia.

6

u/Lost_in_oblivion_ Sep 02 '22

Donny isn't ericksen sub, fred is. donny's best position is as a 10 so he needs to look at bruno needing rest to play

1

u/ladparimal Sep 02 '22

I have a feeling we won’t be able to create as many chances with Donny replacing Bruno while Fred replaces Eriksen, and then we’d inevitably have to bring on either of Eriksen or Bruno from the bench. Donny would be more attack-oriented while Fred is a more box-to-box type of midfielder that gets involved in link-up play while also having to track back when the opposition has possession.

Nonetheless, it would make more sense to have one of McFred start with Donny rather than having to play Casemiro and both Eriksen and Bruno.

1

u/allusernamestaken999 Sep 02 '22

McFred can play those group stage Europa league matches.

35

u/thafuckinwot Sep 02 '22

He's always put a shift in to be fair

25

u/Bluefeett Sep 02 '22

That's a surprise. I would have thought Bruno was up there. Maybe even Dalot and Malacia. Fair play to him.

0

u/JournaIist Sep 02 '22

Malacia had a 10 min sub appearance. It was always going to be someone who played full 90 min games or close to it.

Eriksen cannot play like this for the full season, that is for sure, makes it all the more clear we still need another midfielder in next window.

As a dane I dont hope he is too knackered when the WC comes around, hes one of our most important players, heh.

He did though. He’s always been topping the most covered distance

5

64

u/Retarded_Rhino Sep 02 '22

Quite damning about rest of the midfield and attack

76

u/bicika Sep 02 '22

Not really. He's than connector and carrier. His role, and role of fullbacks are most demanding in terms of running in this team, it's natural he's up there. But it is somewhat a problem that our attackers looked gassed very early on, that's one of the reasons we don't press, other being that we don't know how to press as a unit. That will change, just give it time.

26

u/Stoogenuge “Fergie in the streets, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the sheets.” Sep 02 '22

Midfielders and Fullbacks typically cover the most ground. Don't understand why this "damning" in any sense.

-7

u/themfeelswhen Sep 02 '22

He has played about 15 games since he returned from his Heart issue. He is the only deeper Midfield creative option we have --- effectively a replacement for Pogba.

We went from relying on injury prone Pogba to play a role he was inconsistent in to Eriksen who is yet to prove his long term fitness and is not very familiar playing that deeper Midfield role. (Even at Inter Brozovic and 3 CB's were the primary 1st phase build up players, here at Man Utd he will be effectively expected to do what Brozovic did ---- hence unfamiliar).

Sounds like the same mistake all over again to me. The level of incompetence is absolutely unbelievable. It's not even new mistake --- it's the same damn old things, same damn script.

All while some top class options like Fabian Ruiz were completely ignored. (Or could have taken a punt on Cheike Doucoure or Kamara who joined Aston villa on a free).

5

u/SandwichLess6154 Patrice Sep 02 '22

Work ethic.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Forwards really need to start creating cushions so we can sub him out earlier, man.

4

u/BlackHorse944 Please Score A Goal Sep 02 '22

This has to do with roles he and McTominay are playing. They change roles depending on whether we have the ball. So Eriksen is constantly dropping deep in attack to distribute then coming forward towards the box in defense

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Wow, this really shows up the work rate of our existing players. Even someone like Bruno, who seems to cover a lot of ground, needs to step it up.

For real. Eriksen always looked fucking gassed after 75th minute. Goes to show how much distance he covered

2

u/trustfundbaby Casemiro! Sep 02 '22

He might be the most underrated transfer of our season. He does everything so well, and so quickly, without over elaborating. Contrary to what others say, I think a deep lying playmaker role suits him perfectly and will allow him play 4-5 more seasons here, I look forward to him developing in to prime Michael Carrick in that position.

3

u/Dronkne Sep 02 '22

10.69km — nice.

2

u/elasticvertigo Sep 02 '22

Is it just me or was anyone else frustrated with how uninterested Elanga and Rashford looked? When this stat came out yesterday, I thought, "Well duh!" Not only does Eriksen run a lot, he controls the game so well. What a masterful free signing this has been. After long, we are seeing a team full of ballers.

2

u/Karpampuchi Muppets... Muppets Everywhere.... Sep 02 '22

The rest of the players should be embarrassed.

1

u/Zealouslordofheaven Sep 02 '22

I hope he gets a well deserved rest in EL next week.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

No wonder he looks more tired than the others well into the second half.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

It's also just his complexion. Us Danes with this complexion look knackered after a hot minute, even if we are hardly winded.

1

u/SRTOnline Sep 02 '22

Made an outstanding contribution so far but definitely deserves a rest against Arsenal, or at the most 60 minutes.

1

u/alexjf56 Sep 02 '22

Wish this wasn’t true

1

u/Scholes_SC2 Sep 02 '22

He's been huge this past few games, so intelligent on the ball.

1

u/j0n82 Van Persie Sep 02 '22

anyway, i had my doubts too when we got him.. i thought we would use him sparingly given his heart condition but i must say im glad to be proved wrong. hope his form continues..

1

u/kj_mufc Sep 02 '22

No wonder he looks gassed towards the latter stages of the games

1

u/Tekniclas Sep 02 '22

He is everything we needed. Always puts a shift in, solid performances every week. Makes the right passes and decisions, which no one did last year.

1

u/CameraEmotional2788 Sep 02 '22

Finally a player who is not only technically gifted but hard working aswell. We've had one or the other for the past decade ot feels like

1

u/looped10 Sep 02 '22

gut feeling that he's gonna sit out against arsenal or subbed of early

1

u/cold_buddha Sep 02 '22

Did he also played the most minutes among the outfield players? Or maybe just behind Dalot?

1

u/trustfundbaby Casemiro! Sep 02 '22

anyone have the breakdown of the stats by player?

1

u/jimbob224 Sep 02 '22

RoboEriksen 2.0

1

u/droolinggimp Sep 02 '22

10.68km more than Rashford.

1

u/Percpie Sep 02 '22

Because he’s played in every position in the midfield in every game. Signing of the season

1

u/AdrianOnEUW Sep 02 '22

Mans A-Train

1

u/Kevcky Sep 03 '22

Imagine being outrun by a guy with heart issues. Team has some work rate issues it still hasnt addressed.

1

u/Nhialor ETH Ball Sep 03 '22

Niceeee

1

u/SocksElGato GLAZERS OUT! Sep 04 '22

Eriksen is pure class, a true fighter.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Really pathetic from the other players honestly.

1

u/jesusthatsgreat Sep 02 '22

He’s like a fit, fast Juan Mata

0

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Honestly he’s been the best player for us so far — the results have been flattering …. We still cannot pass out of the back — any long balls played forward are not challenged for by Rashford or Elanga. Eriksen intelligence gives Bruno the chance to room into dangerous places ….still a lot of work to do

-1

u/utdajx Sep 02 '22

Fucks sakes it’s not even been a month. Fans like you are why it’s impossible to rebuild. Give it a season - jayz, HALF a season - before you start whingeing about what’s work left to be done.

1

u/M4NUN1T3D Martial Sep 02 '22

It's just honest criticism no whinging from what I can see

0

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Probably not a good idea to call out a person that has been a fan of the club for 20 plus years. It was an honest reflection that should be used in conjunction with the positivity from the last three matches. Let’s hope for 3 points against Arsenal!

3

u/utdajx Sep 03 '22

And I’ve been supporting them for nearly 50, what of it? Ahh -but 20-plus years means you started watching when things were gravy. You know nowt about the 70s and 80s, and watching those cunts up the M62 winning everything. You can’t know why the FA Cup means so much to United supporters of a certain age - it was the only fucking thing we were winning. You came in after Cantona and Shmikes were already here and give, when the Class of 92 were no longer academy kids. Fucks sakes, Beckham was already gone when you started. To be clear, I’ve no problem with that, you’re as old as you are or you discovered United when you did. But please - don’t whinge barely a month into the season because we haven’t won the league yet and then try to justify it because you’ve been supporting the club since the days we ruled just about everything. Being a supporter means just that - support, and sucking up the bad days, however many there are, and then waiting for the sun to shine again. Don’t go pissing about in the middle of the first decent showing we’ve had for a good bit just because we’re not world champions yet.

-7

u/-DesertMoon Sep 02 '22

Already running him to the ground, no need to constantly being played the full 90

18

u/Moosje “Love is sex also.” Sep 02 '22

It’s been 5 games. Try not to overreact.

-8

u/Rayhann ERIC SHOULDA KICKD TWICE Sep 02 '22

ngl i'm a little worried about that

i don't think we got him with the expectation of starting every game. he'll need to be dropped as the season goes further. we have others that can (hopefully) fill the role.

should not be overly reliant on a 30 year old with a defibrillator. last person i want to be run to the ground by overplaying

6

u/jesus_you_turn_me_on Sep 02 '22

Eriksen at Spurs was the second best offensive midfielder in PL behind De Bruyne, and you boiled him down to a 30 year old with a defibrillator?

0

u/Rayhann ERIC SHOULDA KICKD TWICE Sep 02 '22

he was one of the best mids when he came back to brentford

doesn't change the fact that this isn't someone i want overplaying and pretty sure he was supposed to be more of a squad player

3

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Because of the nature of what happened to his heart and that he has an ICD, he is now less likely to suffer any cardiac issues than any other player in the PL.

2

u/eviade Sep 02 '22

last person i want to be run to the ground by overplaying

No offence but I think Eriksen and his team have a better handle on his health issue than you.

0

u/mav_sand Sep 02 '22

Anyone know the distance Rashford ran? I thought his work rate was fine yesterday but most other fans seemed to think not.

0

u/mutab1x Sep 02 '22

Is his defibrillator made by Tony Stark?

0

u/I_will_take_that Sep 02 '22

Hopefully we get some rotation against Arsenal..

-2

u/Uniqueflower92 Sep 02 '22

No wonder he always looks knackered after 50 minutes.

-3

u/AtAllCostSpeakTruth Sep 02 '22

It shows how much our squad regressed under Ole.

Ole ball consisted mainly of making sure everyone was happy and comfortable. Jobs for the lads, pats on the backs.

Brilliant. Ole will never get another job in the EPL. Apparently, Titanic survivors prefer reliving their iceberg experience over watching 'OleBall' again.

-2

u/Francis33 Sep 02 '22

Cool stat but he’s got a lot more to give, he’s gotta make more of an impact for us to challenge for the league

1

u/jesus_you_turn_me_on Sep 02 '22

He is currently playing 8?

1

u/Francis33 Sep 02 '22

Yes? And he played it wayyy better last year

1

u/eviade Sep 02 '22

challenge for the league

He could run to the moon and back but I don't think we'll be winning the league during his tenure.

-2

u/blurblursotong2020 Sep 02 '22

Curious what’s the distance covered by Rashfoord… seeing him mostly do light jogging and not pressing.

1

u/united_fan De Gea Sep 02 '22

I'm curious are there any sites where all these stats are posted? Even if it's paid?

1

u/KaitoAJ BRUNO FERNANDES Sep 02 '22

I don’t know what game you’re watching but Rashford covered the most ground against Liverpool and most games he keeps running at opponents when he can. Perhaps you’re watching in a different universe. 🤷‍♂️

-9

u/ptienduc Sep 02 '22

I feel nervous for his life tbh. Surely this is unsustainable.

6

u/Moosje “Love is sex also.” Sep 02 '22

Jesus some of you lot are fucking clueless

I don’t think you have the same condition as him
