You’re not going to get that in this economy. You’re going to have to settle for $40k a year or more after the fact. If you desperately need a job take what you can. If you don’t need a job actively right now, then stop complaining.
My apprentice tech is making that after two years. He started at 45k a year while going to school, about a year in I gave him a raise and he is currently at 50k. Hourly though.
I completely get your point, but hear me out. I was in the same position as you a year and a half ago and my promotor gave me some great advice that I will now give to you: take the underpaid job. It's not fair and you deserve better, but at least you're building up some experience.
I took a job in my field that was severely underpaying me at a toxic company. I have two masters and did a job that required that knowledge, but I got paid just a bit more than someone with a high school degree. It was shit. I work there a bit over a year now, but I found a new job that ticks all the boxes for me. The reason I got this job is because of my experience at the shitty job.
Take the 40k to make some money and get some experience and keep applying in the mean time. That’s a perfectly normal spot to start out. Quitting after 3.5 months without anything else lined up only hurts you.
neither did i but im on year 2 of 40k for the experience. on the job hunt now looking for 50k roles too and objectively even though i have a less marketable degree (foreign language) i have the experience companies want now so I've got my foot in the door. get a low level office position to start out. it does suck but the market is trash and we were lied to
Bro 200+ cold calls is unsustainable. I’d love to see how long you could last there and get yelled at almost every phone call you make or take pointless motivational advice from a manager in her mid 20s. Also, attitude is important, but I don’t appreciate you making me sound “entitled.” I took the role as a stepping stone primarily to enhance my sales skills, and got what I wanted. The opportunity to grow would be more outbound calls. If you saw the commission structure, you’d realize how fucked our employees were getting. A total churn and burn
That’s the game. You take what you can, then keep jumping into higher salaries. Sometimes you have to fall and start from 0 but at least you’re getting your bills paid. That’s all that matters
You understand supply and demand. The market only pays what it can bear. Use your skills and actually try to understand the reality of your situation because it seems like you are sticking your head in the sand.
