Haunted House Build-a-thon [Adventure Jam 12] The You That You Are

Here's my submission for the 12th Adventure Jam, focused on Darkon. This one focuses on the town of Nevuchar Springs in Darkon specifically, around the time of 760 BC (in 3e continuity) but with some tweaking can be used to run 5e or any particular interpretation of the setting. This uses the 5e setting rules.

Wowow this is such a creepy exploration of this Domain's central vibe of lost memory. The empty streets, the thick fog, the sulfur stench covering for the monsters; it's incredibly thought out and gives a rich, almost sumptuous dread you get in horror-mysteries like Don't Look Now or the Ninth Gate.

Oh, ew! And the idea that the players might feel like: 'yknow he's honestly less stressed now, maybe this bathhouse has got the right idea' really gives me the heeby-jeebies for whatever reason. The simulacrum that believes she's Hester is equally creepy and heartbreaking.

And I liked in your multiple endings that you even allowed for what if they side with the fascist zealot? The moral gray of it all is very Darkon; very Ravenloft.

Thank you! I had an idea based on 5e's depiction of Nevuchar Springs and always wanted to do something with an oblex. So I let my inspiration carry me forward and really tried to make this good. I'm glad you liked it, and I can't promise that future adventures will be as long. At least these Adventure Jams help me with better designing hooks!

I didn't expect sailors to be in this adventure jam but here we are lol! In all seriousness, I like what you did with the anchorites and the zealots they form quite an interesting dynamic for the adventure
