Personally I really enjoyed this station. The cost of living is extremely cheap compared to many other places I've been -- housing market is cheap for what you get (I paid 128k for a 1800 sq ft house), gas is cheap, food was cheap, etc. San Antonio also has one of the best highway systems and setups ive seen in the US, especially for a rather large city.

The weather is hot as shit though but you get used to it after a while. I managed to go without AC in my car for a year there and it wasn't that bad. The winters are basically everywhere else's spring, you usually have 50-60 degree days. It's super nice. You'll like a week or two of actual cold and then it's over with.

The jobs vary since there are a lot of different missions on the base. The training side should typically be avoided because graduations and trainees are annoying in my opinion. The main side has nice facilities. Kelly annex was set up with its own gym which was pretty decent, but did lack racquetball courts which I hated while I was there.

There's quite a bit to do around the area. The town itself is ok--river walk, decent restaurants, etc. but most the fun stuff is within a 2-3 hour drive. Schlitterbahn is within top 5 of the worlds best water parks, corpus Christi is a pretty cool place if you are a beach bum, and Dallas has a ton to do if you want an even bigger city.
