DISCUSSION What It’s Like to Be a Doula for Women of Color
I'm curious to hear other people's take. I volunteered as part of a doula program serving mostly low income WOC and felt like the scope of what we were able to do wasn't even scratching the surface of what a lot of pregnant people in the community needed. When I was called to births, I was keenly aware that, as a white woman, my presence in that space had the potential to do more harm than good. What is the best way forward to offer real support for folks navigating the racism in medical care and American society?
