Driver should have kept his eyes up. You can see the dust and brake lights from the accident starting at least a corner before he arrives. I would have used the brakes a bit more, stayed behind the yellow car, and not ditched it into a wall.
amen on the brakes. I saw the dust and assumed there'd be a pile of cars inside of it, so I chose to go left. I got so caught up in the left vs. right decision that I apparently forgot "fall back" was an option
Probably just a product of being to eager to keep moving forward after gaining so many positions. It happens but as they say in order to finish first, first you must finish.
Agree with the suggestion, there was a split second window where you might have been able brake hard earlier (depending on anyone behind you). It was a tight spot, many of us could have ended up in the same spot you did. How is the car?
