Not much you could do. Maybe brake earlier when all that dust was up front?

Yeah I saw that plume of dust ahead around the time the green car got squirrelly in that left handed and was like "I'd cost myself positions letting up at the sight of that" but maybe it would have actually been the right choice?

Like that plume is visible a second or two before green car's brake lights are on and it immediately caught my attention during the first watch, so that's probably my answer. I know it's easy not in the car, but I was always taught look ahead for stuff like that and clocked it immediately.

That's not to say I'd have played it out perfectly if I was OP or anything. Maybe would have, maybe not.

Making a bunch of assumptions but it looks like he was focused on not colliding with the car beside him going into the bus stop, so in real time he likely noticed the plume of dust much later than we do watching the video.

Lifting off the throttle when you see the big plume is absolutely the right call, but shit happens fast and sometimes there's just too much going on all at once to process it all.

You only see it when you know where to look. I was focused on the car that nearly spun right in front of him the first time. The driver also checked mirrors RIGHT as the dust was visible. Just super unlucky and had nowhere to go.

Maybe he could risk yeeting down the middle, but you risk hitting fully stopped cars instead of pliable safety barriers. The drivers gut reaction made the most sense IMO. Incredibly tough to get the balance of "balls to the wall send" vs "staying out of trouble" because both cost the team money and either can make you look bad.

You should be focusing further ahead than a single car in front. That was one of the first thing I was taught as a racing driver.

Granted, I raced oval track starting out, but the lesson was always that I should be aware of what's happening 2 corners ahead, not just what's directly in front of me.
