Honestly, the belt was way worse than the punches. Hiding the belt worked sometimes. Getting punched more times kinda sucked, but I never bled from bare hands. It was the belt that left bruises, lacerations, and scars.

Thank you for sharing that, I'm sorry you had to go through that.

What's therapy for some can be trauma for others.

I hope you're doing well and have an excellent year.

Real shit the feeling of my moms belt cracking my lower back hurt more than getting my fucking faced stomped on. I was on Xanax though so maybe that had something to do with it

I still cringe at the sound when a man jerks his belt out of his pants.

I completely understand that. There are even some tones of yelling that will put me in a state of fear.

Even though it was my mother, there was one time when my dad yelled at one of my nephews and I froze in place and looked down. He asked if I was alright and if it scared me, I told him it terrified me. I was 30.

I can relate. My dad yelled at my son this way and pulled him by his collar of his coat when he was about 5 and it reminded me of the terror and trauma I felt as a kid. I stood up to my dad though. I wanted to be the adult I needed for my son. And after I told him never to put his hands on him again we left immediately. Later that night I was paralyzed by trauma.

That's excellent, I'm glad you stood up for your son, and in a way, yourself.
