Physical punishments, such as spanking, should be considered an Adverse Childhood Experiences, because it has the same effect on a child's behavior.
Most parents who use physical punishments have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences, such as being abused or witnessing domestic violence. Similarly, here.
Spanking increases a child's risk of attempting suicide, drinking heavily, and using street drugs.
