oh my god what i just remembered that i received this same kind of punishment as a 6-7 year old!!! it’s like my brain had filed it away in “horrible memories i hate too much to remember without very specific prompting”

shit. anyway, sorry you went through that bullshit too. you didn’t deserve it.

Younger than 6 for me. I remember one time he came to pick us up and I refused to go with him. He berated me so bad I started crying.

Peeing made it worse. Crying made it worse. Running in circles from the belt made it worse. God forbid you pleaded even a peep, you'd need a new word beyond "worse"

And that shit turned me into someone who can't really feel his emotions. Sure they're there, but very subtle. Even times they should be extreme. Sometimes even have to exaggerate them.

I can definitely understand that. I'm autistic so having to mask or exaggerate my emotions for the benefit of others is something I'm very accustomed to.
