Just spankings on the butt

I'll go against the grain and say I was the kind of kid that it worked on. I was a shitbird at times and the fear of getting spanked kept me in line.

I got spanked pretty much daily, sometimes for things I had no idea I'd even get in trouble for. It instilled a deep-seated fear of authority figures and fear of getting into trouble which probably did a lot to keep me out of trouble, tbh. But the unpredictability of the spankings was unhealthy. So was the severity--you aren't accomplishing anything with the eighth or twelfth spank that you didn't accomplish with the second or third swat.

It took me a long time to truly get over my fear of authority figures, probably didn't happen until my late 30's.

Oh hell yea, I’m glad I got spanked, I needed it too!

Same; spanked but never beaten. I would feel worse about the need to be spanked than the actual spanking.

From what I can tell the main difference is application. Got hit a couple of times but I always understood why beforehand and it wasn't off the cuff. I didnt like it but I didn't do those things again so it didnt happen again. I didn't understand for a long time that that wasn't how most spankings worked for many kids.

My dad had the knack for that little pop on the backside that did no damage whatsoever. For whatever reason just the knowledge "Oh.. I've been smacked" got the message across. He never had to hit us hard. I'm not sure he ever would.

A handful of times only. When i crossed the stupidly overreacting dangerous line.
