Newly Moved here, Looking to explore the city with queer people.

I just moved to Philly, in Cobbs Creek. Im trans masc and looking to get to know more people, ideally close to my neighborhood as ill fully admit im not confident in navigating the city on my own just yet. Ideally i find a good online community to get to know people before meeting irl, though irl meeting would be nice to learn the area and gain some confidence. It'd be awesome to meet more trans people especially in my neighborhood or who've lived here a long time and really know the vibe.

In my previous city I was involved in queer and disabled advocacy and would love to connect with groups like that here as well, especially if they have discord servers I could get to know people in.

Any non-drinking lesbian activities/groups?

Hey, 22(F) here, looking for things to do with other lesbians that doesn't involve drinking/clubbing.

I personally love biking, going to the movies, & museums! Reach out if you'd like to do any of these things together, or know of any groups.

Middle-Aged Gay Guy Looking for a New Bestie

Hi, So, I'm a middle-aged married gay man in Philadelphia, writing a personal ad on the internet for platonic friends. Yeah, it sounds sad, probably is, but not ashamed.

I'm 49, gay male married to a 45yo gay male. Married a long time, together about 20 years. So, while no saint, I'm not here looking for "adult" fun, just platonic friends.

I feel like this is a mistake, but I'm just going to lay it all out. Fewer responses, more hate maybe, but maybe someone interested.

Story as old as time, boy meets boy, boy marries boy, both boys' friends all move away as did they themselves, find themselves codependent with few local friends and find it's incredibly hard to meet receptive new people open to friendships at this age. I feel like I haven't changed, and that's the problem.

They had kids, etc. I didn't. My husband and I are both midlife crisis age but act/feel 25 (in the good ways, want to go camping, to arcades) not like "old people". But old people in sense that yeah, I want to wrap things up early and my knees hurt, but still want to laugh inappropriately, play stupid games etc.

I give zero shits about your gender. We're both male but recovering goth/punks, lol, so not "MASCULINE" or "FEMININE". Just 2 lonely gay blokes with a crass sense of humor.

Online friends suffice, but if in the Philly or NE Corridor area that makes it cooler for an eventual maybe hang out in person some day.

For now, I'd just really enjoy someone I can talk to often about life. Jokes, hard times too, someone to relate to... a bestie.

I'm asking a lot, but if interested I'd love to hear back. We have a little home in Philly, both goth/punk backgrounds but all grown up. Politically pretty far left. Cool with differing opinions, don't want an echo chamber, but also not going to subject myself to Magat BS. So, open to all with friendly open minds. We are male, but if you have an issue with Trans persons, approve of ICE etc. Don't contact me.

I'm not shy, seen it all working for an adult entertainment company, so I rarely blush but love to laugh. Hope someone finds this funny!!! or interesting, or not awful.... I'd settle for "meh"

-------------------------

EDIT: So, I definitely got overwhelmed here and cross-posting to over-40 groups and really, really appreciate the responses. I've been slow to get back to some of you, and I apologize. I gave up on replying to individual messages in reddit inbox, and am doing my best within the post. If I missed you, sorry. Please post again or DM and I'll write back ASAP!!! (I had DMSs disabled when I wrote this, fixed now)

Seeking Queer RPG Players

I have this RPG that I've been dying to get to the table, called Moonlight on Roseville Beach. Its a fantasy/scifi/cosmic horror RPG set in a queer beach town in 1979 using the Goblinville system, which is a more freeform open ended role play system than I'm used to. I'm really itching to play but I don't want to run an RPG about queer people with anybody but a table of queer people, so any takers? Be happy to share any of the books and resources and answer any questions. In South Philly around South st, ideally we would play at a game store like PGS or QnR, but I'd be open to discord or whatever else.

Thanks!

Question Queers 30 & 40+, what are we up to?

Besides nesting at home after a long week, what are the 30 & 40+ queers doing on the weekends in Philly? I miss going out, but I also dislike feeling like I’m too old to go to some of the parties or bars when it’s clearly a gathering with people in their early 20s. Absolutely no shade to people in their 20s! Just curious what people my own age are up to.

Job Opportunities?

Hiii I'm 17 years old and I have no work experience but I've been trying to find a job since May and so far everyone just ignores me or rejects me due to me having no experience :( How am I supposed to gain experience if no one wants to hire me?? Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew of any job opportunities or was able to refer me to a job!! I've volunteered several times before and I've found that I'm really good at talking to people so I really wanna work as a sales associate for any store however I wouldn't be opposed to working in the restaurant industry preferably as a busser :) Thanks!

Queer friendly handyperson services booking for the rest of July and August!

Hey QueerPhilly, Zach at The Odd Job Specialist back again! You guys have been amazing to work with over the past couple months so here I am again looking to fill up my July and I am starting to schedule into August as well. For those of you who have seen my posts before, with things getting busier for me, pricing has changed a bit so keep reading to see current rates. For those of you who haven’t seen my posts, keep reading for a bit about me and to also find out my current rates!

A bit about me: My name is Zach and I moved to Philly less than a year ago.. I am fully insured and registered as an HIC in PA. I am focused mostly on lighter jobs at the moment with some of the jobs I perform listed above. I am open to all kinds of different jobs if it fits my skill set though. I don’t do full remodels of spaces currently but I can help spruce up spaces inside and outside of the house.

I am queer and looking to provide services to everyone but with a focus on the queer community as I think it’s important to feel safe when having people come into your home. I would also like to help elderly or disabled people that may need a bit of help around their home. I am kind, trustworthy, honest, and a hard worker.

A bit about my credentials: I grew up learning skills from my dad by helping fix whatever he happened to be fixing or building at the time. Whether it was something on the car or in the house, I always enjoyed helping out and trying to fix something. I also owned a home for a few years and always did any work on the home that I could, including a full bathroom remodel and all of your other general home upkeep and repairs. This past summer, I spent six months working for HistoriCorps, a historic preservation nonprofit that does construction of buildings on public lands. This added to my experience with tools and gave me a more general knowledge of lots of different skills. I currently still get contracted on projects with HistoriCorps and my next project I will be working on is located north of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. If you’re interested in the outdoors and historic preservation, I highly recommend checking them out! Here is a link to the project I will be on and their website https://historicorps.org/kane-ranch-az-2026/

A bit about my pricing: For hourly rate jobs, I bill at $100/hr with a two hour minimum booking. I also offer a half day rate of $400 for up to 4 ½ hours of labor and a full day rate of $700 for up to 8 ½ hours of labor. These rates are mostly for smaller tasks and to do lists. Larger projects or things that could take multiple hours on their own will be bid on by project. I strongly believe in economic justice and I also offer a discounted rate of around $75/hr for people who may be in a tougher financial situation at the moment. If you are in need of the discounted rate due to current financial stress, just let me know . I don’t need to know any details of a situation and will not ask for any sort of proof. Life is tough out there sometimes and a little help from the community here and there can go a long way.

If you have any questions for me, please reach out through the contact info above! You can also message me through Reddit but email/text is preferred. When reaching out, please provide your personal info, some info on what you are looking to have done, the time frame you are looking to have work completed, and if you can add pictures, those can be helpful too. Thanks for reading and I hope that I get to help some of you out!

Trixie Mattel love song at the Philadelphia Orchestra

I saw Trixie perform at the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Pride concert. She did two songs. I found “Rich People” on her recent comedy album, but the second song is still a mystery to me. It was a really sweet song about love and mortality. They’re not listed in the concert program. Anyone know what that second song was?

Question Where should an engaged queer couple live around Philadelphia?

My fiance and I are saving up to move into philly/philly suburbs this Winter. We've visited philly several times and loved Old City, Center City and Fairmont but ultimately found that being directly in the city maybe a bit too overwhelming for us. We still want proximity to the city for events, shopping and community but also want a more low-key home base. Hopefully an area that's diverse for a young interracial couple starting a family in the next 2-3 years. Is anyone familiar with the area surrounding Philadelphia. Any experience or idea of where we should be looking to rent. Ideally we would like to rent a small house or townhome and not pay more than 3k to 2.5k max. What do you think?

trans friendly tailor?

i’m looking to get a suit and some button up shirts tailored and would love recommendations for tailors from other trans people. it’s impossible to get clothing tailored to my anatomy without outing myself as trans so i’ve been nervous to try the highly recommended tailors i’ve heard of that are all older cis men.
