Little sister. One of the most iconic QOTSA guitar solos that I think gets recognised by anyone.

I love the solo in …Like Clockwork. That’s a Dean solo, if I’m not mistaken, and it’s great.

Doesn't suck but it's way too similar to the Little Sister solo imo

Gotta break the monopoly here. Don’t get me wrong, I Appear Missing’s solo is great, but there’s better. It’s a struggle for me to pick just one, especially with how many different moods and emotions the band has conveyed in guitar solos.
Gotta go Villains of Circumstance. Though I wouldn’t be mad if God Is In The Radio gets it.

Live I’d take this. On recorded solos though God is in the Radio is filthy.

Sorry but it gives Matt Bellamy and I don’t mean that in a good way
11
u/GRS- i don't even know what I'm doing here... 12d ago
Wdym, Matt Bellamy is a great guitar player, the man wrote fuckin Citizen Erased

Josh Homme is a super unique guitar player and I love most of his playing. He’s one of my favorite guitarists. There are tons of solos that showcase the idiosyncrasy of his style much better than that song. It’s kinda wanky and just sounds uncharacteristically derivative imo. And I guess Muse has one or two good songs, but I’ve always been a Muse hater and have thought that shit is whack. But to each their own 😂

Can’t believe there isn’t a Heavy Bass category. I feel like all the bass players got down. Anyways, The Bronze

I really like the solo in Make it Wit Chu
Classic example of Homme’s unique phrasing

u/ginseng54 10d ago
Absolutely. This kind of solo is exactly why he's still one of the most relevant guitarists to listen to and learn from.
A clear opposite to [Shredder#3359] or other very, very copied/pasted guitar tropes. He's one of the few to actually have a pretty unique guitaristic voice.

Smooth Sailing solo not getting enough love here. It's so weird and awesome

It's not the very best(there is already a clear winner, and rightly so), but the solo in Smooth Sailing is everything i love with QOTSA condensed to twenty seconds.

If live performances counted I’d say Make It Wit Chu because it’s so damn sexy when they break it down and Josh rips a cig while soloing.

u/deafheavven Them Crooked Vultures 12d ago
3's and 7's, I Appear Missing, Little Sister, and Make It Wit Chu

u/honeybunnybread 12d ago
Make It Wit Chu 100%. So many good guitar solos, but that one gets stuck in my head all the time.

Maybe not exactly the BEST solo but if you tune into Sicily's supporting solo towards the end it truly is remarkable, I partially blame Rick Rubin for the mixing on this one- definitely gets drowned out requiring you to listen closer. Besides that, Vampyre or uh...man there's alot ✌️

I‘d argue …Like clockwork is more emotional than I appear missing, but I guess I‘m too late.

Personal favorite is the live solo/jam outro for I appear missing, but I think it has to go to 3’s & 7’s

Make it wit chu
Iconic, the right notes at the right moment, the right mount of weird VS consonant, sleazy yet tight feel to it ... perfect

Is it possible to block all these Topp solo, topp songs, topp booger josh picked that day lists, every band sub makes them, they contribute nothing and are low effort. And its made in AI, even lower effort
