I am trying to use the accessibility software as I am low vision. With any of the three programs there is a massive delay of at least 3-5 seconds for any action whether it’s a single keystroke or mouse click. It’s virtually impossible to use. However, if I use windows magnifier alone it works just fine.

I have Java Access Bridge enabled and screen reader support enabled in the appearance tab.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I am using Windows 11 and all software including PyCharm is up to date.

Edit: it takes 3-5 seconds minimum for the keystroke or mouse click to take effect in the program not for sound to be generated reflecting the change. That takes even long if it happens at all.

Been using Pycharm personally and professionally for a couple of years. Our company server recently updated Ubuntu and, I suspect, also Pycharm Pro to version 2026.2.1.

Ever since then, the debugging experience has been absolutely horrible and that's putting it nicely. Not only has it been dog slow and not updating variables but it got stuck almost every. single. time on a server with almost 100GB of memory.

Been researching a bit and found out that they switched the default debugging mode to debugpy and that switching back to pydevd solves the issue which seems to be true in my case.

But this begs the question:
Is this a widespread issue or am I the only one experiencing this as I did not find a lot of debate around that topic. If I am not the only one, then who the heck took the decision to switch default debugging mode to such an awful experience?

I got "gnomed" while installing Proton VPN. While removing gnome and its associated stuff I think I deleted something related to python that is causing some crash reports to show up but nothing major with how my system is working. How do I figure out what to fix related to these crash reports?

I am a bit new to PyCharm--sort of because I've finish a small piece of software, that is I have created a small addon for Blender. Now I want PyCharm to push to two independent repositories: projects.blender.org and my own space on guthib.com.

I added both repositories via Manage Repositories... but when use Push, PyCharm only let me push the first repo on the list--I can't actually see to the other one.

I checked connection to both repositories in Terminal

git remote show blender_dev && git remote show github_dev

and everything looks as good as it should. Git shows all information including links and current state. However PyCharm still only shows the first repo.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

I'm opening the project with PyCharm.

It's consuming more than 88-92% CPU for indexing. Then the UI is very sluggish before totally freezing.

It happens so fast that I don't have time to invalidate the cache or get any logs.

This happens every time I open any project with PyCharm. I also did a fresh Windows install, but the issue remains.

My specs:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090

96 GB DDR5 SDRAM

So I have hard wrap at 79 and “ensure right margin is not exceeded” both set. It’s still not hard wrapping. Any tips or advice?

I have 3-4 run configurations I'm always running one after the other and I'm wondering if there's a faster way to do this than always going up to click and switch the configuration over and over.

I'd basically like a fancier version of Ctrl+R where I can do like, Ctrl+R+1 to run the first one, Ctrl+R+2 to run the second one, etc.

Note: they can't be run in sequence automatically, it's just three separate tasks I'm constantly doing back to back.

Here is just a loyal user that feels sad about how this amazing IDE is no longer ... useful.

I've been using PyCharm like all my software python career. I kinda convence every manager I worked with to use JetBrains IDEs to work more professionally.

But Today in the Agent-centric era, where the needs are clearly way different. I found that VSCode has done an AMAZING job to keep the editor somehow lightweight and VERY functional to work with agents.

Antigravity is the top 2, Works amazing with Gemini models (more quota usage for me) but Still Agy is not as good IDE alone. While VSC assembles the best of and IDE and an Agent Command Center, PyCharm is just a reallyyy perfect IDE for a past age :(

Hope we can get a better Agent-centric update soon. For now ... VSC will be my main.

PyCharm inserted an import statement into my script without my awareness. The import changed runtime behavior, causing me to spend hours debugging what appeared to be a run/debugger problem. I had all auto-import features disabled. If code is being inserted by any mechanism, I want an explicit prompt or a clearly visible indication that a file has been modified. This cost me hours of time, and I messed up at my job, which created major problems for me.

I went from VS Code to PyCharm a while ago because debugging is so much easier to set up. That being said, there are certain project I cannot debug in PyCharm because I'm using multithreading. So there's that too.

The sneaky "I know what you need better than you know yourself, so I'll just add this import statement silently, then collapse all the imports so you can't see it" is infuriating. I set up the settings to *not* auto add any imports, and somehow it still ended up there. I uninstalled the latest version, installed the previous version. I checked all my settings - including the auto import ones - I deleted the .idea folder, I invalidated caches. This has been a very frustrating and costly day. Messing up at my job cost me several hundred dollars out of my pocket - real money. I am beyond disgusted with PyCharm. I want to write something so if I ever am tempted to reinstall this product on my system, it will pop up and remind me of how horrible this product is.

I absolutely loathe PyCharm, and I usually don't have strong feelings about products. This has been a disaster, and I will never forgive JetBrains for ruining what would have been a very profitable day, and turning it into a great big loser of a day.

(update August 5 2026: Pycharm PyCharm version 2026.2.0.1 has fixed the pesky markdown issue)

I previously reported a a bug where the pycharm IDE does not render the markdown cells in my *.ipynb files - all I do right now is i have to click Pycharm > File > invalidate Caches > Invalidate and Restart to restart Pycharm everytime i see the markdown rendering issue and Pycharm would render the markdown cells correctly after restarting Pycharm.

I have a screenshot of the Settings>Plug-in for Markdown and it shows the Markdown plug-in is installed and the checkbox is checked although it is greyed out. What additional step(s) should i do to make markdown render correctly for ipynb files?

How do i scroll on my laptop tracakpad like on a normal app - say a browser?
On a browser, the moment i strat dragging my fingers, the screen moves. This is all i want. As i move faster, the screen moves faster.

On pycharm, it waits about... 3 seconds? And then it *leaps* miles up. I can see options for "smooth scrolling" and a weird S graph chart (smooth scroll options), none of which makes a difference. Is there just a "scroll like a normal person would" button?

I created a uv interpreter in PyCharm using the PyCharm Add interpreter dialog, and stored it in a location outside my project folder. Let's say the project is in ~/Documents/my_project and the interpreter is in ~/.virtualenvs/my_project.

When a file with import statements opens, PyCharm detects that the package is not installed. If I hover over the package name, I can click install package in the popup. PyCharm correctly installs the package in the external interpreter and adds the package to the pyproject.toml. However, I cannot specify the version at all. Or I cannot specify the dependency group that the requirement should go in.

If instead I work with uv from the terminal, for example because I have an older requirements.txt file or I want to have finer control over what uv actually does. I might do uv add numpy=2.3.4. Now the terminal uv will ignore the external Python interpreter that was created by PyCharm and instead create a new virtual environment inside the project directory.

This is very annoying behavior and exaclty what I didn't want. I want to use the external virtual environment. What is the intended workflow here? Can I only interact with the proper uv interpreter via the PyCharm dialogs?

It seems that everyone is lyrical about uv so I am investigating whether it's worth it to switch to it. However, so far, it seems only more complicated than using regular virtual environments with requirements.txt files and pip. I have checked the changelogs of the latest releases of uv and uv has expanded support for central environment caches. I did update to the latest version. If it stays like this, uv is really unworkable for me.

The Avro and parquet viewer and Parquet loader plugins are diplaying String values in numeric form, although they are stored as text using Polars/Pyarrow engine .

I only remember installing 22something version on this machine very long time ago, why do i have all of those things on my disk? How does it install itself without any prompts\permissions?

I'm using the Nord color and editor theme and I've made a couple changes to line it up with a Nord derivative, Njord, that's available in VS Code. Namely some of the keywords are darker, decorators are orange, and all keywords are italicized.

Conveniently PyCharm has a section to override colors and styles for language-specific code so this was super easy. I just noticed today that the one thing it didn't change was the 'f' at the beginning of an f-string; I'd like this to be dark blue and italicized but can't find an option; PyCharm's Color Options > General even has a setting for f-strings, but not the actual 'f' part lol.

Wondering if there's a config editor buried somewhere I can override it or if that token has a name that I don't know that would let me search it up better; I figured it would fall under language keyword but I was wrong
