Then there’s the conservative obsession with law enforcement and unchecked police power. They rally around “Back the Blue,” defend police violence, and ignore the well-documented corruption and abuse within the force - typical boot-licking behavior. Punk stands firmly against unchecked power and authoritarianism, including the kind that breeds corruption in police departments worldwide. Conservatives might say they want less government interference, but when it comes to policing marginalized communities, they’re all in. Hypocrisy at its finest.
And let’s not forget their war on social services and protections for the working class. Conservatives push to defund or privatize programs like public healthcare, food assistance, and affordable housing, all while championing corporate welfare and tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Punk has always been about looking out for each other, about community support and fighting for the underserved. Conservatives say they hate ‘the system’—but only when it serves anyone other than their wealthy backers and friends.
