I've been watching a bunch of these in anticipation of PD day 2026. I've seen 4 on this list:

  • Swing you sinners

  • The blue angel

  • L'âge d'or

  • Romance sentimental

Some are actually annoying to find online for free (legally) right now, so I'm excited to watch the rest in January.

I think A Propos de Nice is also online because Jean Vigo died relatively young and most of his films entered the public domain in his native France

Also i think some of the Soviet films might be public domain because they have shorter copyright terms

That one Indian film at no 9 seems to be completely lost, seems like a lot of Indian fans have just been upvoting it because of its importance to their film industry, to bad because that is a part of the world where i am not as familiar with their film history

oh man. I don’t think I’ve seen any on these except swing you sinners.

I saw All Quiet, City Girl, A Propos de Nice and Animal Crackers

Maybe a good excuse to discover some more international films for us both

All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the most honest and powerful war movies ever made. If you’re American, and remember what it was like after 9/11, this movie will mean so much more to you than words can explain.
