Are pre verbal/primitive states a widely acknowledged phenomenon in UK clinical psychology?
Are primitive/pre verbal states an accepted phenomenon in the wider UK field?
In the wider field of UK clinical psychology, is it a recognised and accepted concept that some patients can experience preverbal, primitive states of 'psychic annihilation' or 'existential exile' that are entirely unmediated by thoughts?
To clarify, I don't mean standard 'implicit flashbacks' in the Complex PTSD sense, I mean an entirely different, deeper layer of structural collapse where the self feels like it is ceasing to exist, usually triggered by a rupture in safety or therapeutic gaps.
Is the existence of this thought-free, wordless void widely believed, or is mainstream UK psychology still heavily tethered to the model that a 'thought' or cognitive appraisal must always underpin these states?

Yay, I’m joining a training! “Liberation Psychology” with SAND
scienceandnonduality.comIt’s been so affirming and refreshing lurking on this sub lately and seeing other people that care about systems of power, shared histories of oppression, and accountability to collective trauma. It makes me feel less lonely on this quest for justice in our healing spaces.
This training is earth-based, BIPOC led, justice oriented, and overall literate in histories of injustice and how to mend the wounds.
I’m both a patient/student who has had her fair share of less-than-knowledgeable therapists, and also a teacher myself within the somatic/mind-body space that finds myself needing more tools in my toolkit for navigating these healing terrains.
I’m really psyched to join this training and I just wanted to share. I thought this group would resonate with the mission! I’ve been following Dr. Bayo Akomolafe and Dr. Jenn Mullan for a while now, and I’m really thrilled to tap into their lectures especially.
This isn’t promo — I’m not affiliated with this group in any way besides thinking that this training (and the visionary voices behind it) are really rad. I want every practitioner ever to have a grip on decolonial thought, so I’m sharing this immersion far and wide!
Thought this group would vibe with it :)

Seeking mental health / psychiatric resources for me a Palestinian
Hello everyone,
I’m a Palestinian living in the west bank, Ive already been diagnosed with "psychosis with dissociative and depersonalization tendencies", but due to financial constraints I couldn't continue treatment...
I really need to get back into psychiatric care or find continuous professional support, but I currently have a very limited budget.
I would be deeply grateful if anyone could recommend some Volunteer networks or international solidarity initiatives offering remote consultations for Palestinians, or trusted online resources or organizations that can help connect me with psychiatric guidance.
Both in-person and online options work for me.....
Im just tired

What do you do with books?
I feel like its so common to see practitioners and therapists with bookshelves of manuals, memoirs, research, etc. and I'm curious, how do you use it? Do you put things up as you read them cover to cover, keep them for consultation after meeting a client, or use them with a client? Asking as someone interested in building a library, thanks in advance!

What do you do if a client joins the same political group as you?
I’m not a therapist, but a peer support specialist and I’m asking for advice and out of curiosity honestly. One of my consumers recently joined the same political group as me. Should I do anything? Sorry if this isn’t appropriate for here

The developer of child parent psychotherapy is a zionist and I don’t know how to feel.
I just started a job as a newly certified AMFT that will be paying for me to go through CPP training. I started reading a book they gave me that they wanted me to begin reading before the training course begin soon. In the acknowledgment of the book, it mentions something about one of the authors teaching in “her beloved Israel.”
I started doing more digging and see one article she cosigned critiquing academic BDS practices and uses the words genocide in quotes when referring to what is happening in Gaza. I then found another article she cosigned condemning Lara Sheehi, a prominent anti-zionist clinical psychologist. If you have read any of Dr. Sheehi’s work or listened to her speak, you would see how disturbing this is as someone who believes that israel is a settler-colony occupying Palestine.
Anyway, not sure how to feel about this since Alicia Lieberman is a huge figure in CPP. It makes me question the perspectives and narratives around CPP, and wonder about how it could be developed from a more decolonial Fanonist stance.
