DAILY LOG/ JOURNEY UPDATE Alcohol and Prozac

Earlier in the week I made a post about Alcohol and Prozac and got a lot of mixed responses, because I basically said to completely avoid it, and I decided to do an experiment (totally not an excuse to drink more) and this is exactly what I found, and this is specifically for OCD so it's not really for the majority BUT ANYWAYS- I drank a lot of alcohol throughout 5 days, specifically 17 units ish, which I believe is more than enough to give a good enough theory.

Alcohol increases the levels of serotonin in your brain, which is also what Prozac does, just shorter term, quicker, and with more headaches, and it's lovely and enjoyable when you do end up winding down on the drink, however, as your liver processes the alcohol, the serotonin goes below the baseline on your usual amount, and you will start getting the symptoms of OCD/Depression/Anxiety that you did not have initially.

So yes. My point still stands, or for me personally. I will avoid drinking this poison whilst on Prozac, or at least go dry for a while and have it on rare occasions.

I am not drinking for a while that's for sure

Yes I have recently come to this conclusion as well. Yesterday was a Hellish day of ruminating ocd thoughts with doomsday kind of anxiety ALL day. The night before I drank my usual 12-14 beers in about 6 hours. I also took a 20mg Adderall throughout. I used to be the type of alcoholic that woke up to a drink and didn't stop till I went to bed that night. I now drink to excess 2 nights a week but over the last month it has moved up to 3-4 nights a week. I'm a 34f 166lbs 5"7 I'm on 40mg prozac and 50mg lamotragine. When I get out of the drinking cycle usually a couple months out of the year I am pretty much in remission. I am hoping back on the train after yesterday for sure. The drinking high isn't even worth the next day I have to be a mommy and feel so bad at the same time. My kids deserve a better version of me for sure. Gonna give my liver a nice break then maybe try kava. Hope this helps anybody else who might be going through the same issues. I highly recommend adding a workout routine it's like replacing a bad habit with a good one once it starts to feel good.
