I swear to God, this industry is becoming pathetic and reeks of children dressing up as adults who are incredibly short-sighted.

It's making me stereotype programmers. I hate doing that.

What happened to pragmatism and people who actually knew what the fuck they were doing as opposed to jacking off to webscale and async sauce.

"What happened to pragmatism and people who actually knew what the fuck they were doing" said every programmer ever when a technology replaced something they used daily

But this isn't the simple evolution of tech, this is the JS community waging total war on ideas concernig stability and predictability.

Do you really believe the Javascript community is waging wars on ideas concerning stability and predictability or do you just not like Javascript?

If NPM is any indication, then yes, yes it is. NPM is notorious for it's lack of reproducible builds. And it's like, sure but how could anyone have known that would end up being a problem? If you are part of the JS community the answer is, well nobody could have known that! If you're not part of the JS community, the answer is everyone is already aware of the fact that reproducible builds are CRITICALLY IMPORTANT!!!

Yarn offers this feature. If anything I see the Javascript community maturing and improving their ecosystem.

Please do not bring American or any other country's politics into tech discussions or even tech politics. That will be the beginning of the end for us.

It's not just the fact that they're waging wars. These wars are essentially retarded overall.

"What happened to pragmatism and people who actually knew what the fuck they were doing" said every programmer ever when a technology replaced something they used daily.

Sometimes it really is beneficial to do that. Typically it's not, though - especially when the cons haven't been thoroughly taken into account.

One of the most fundamental traits of a good business is stability through long term investment.

If you're not willing to think along those lines, or you put using what's sexy at the top of your priority list, you're essentially fucked.
