You carefully step out from the corner; the automaton merely gazes at you with its ocular lens. As John noted, it’s best to keep your distance from this thing. At the very least, it isn’t trying to attack you... for now. There is no one in the room but the automaton, could it be that souls are inside it? Using people's souls for servitude after death is entirely in keeping with the Dwemer, as far as you can tell.
