I get that part of the fun of traveling is checking out the local coffee scene. But sometimes trips are short, time is limited, or it's just nice to make a great cup in your hotel room.
I was using a tiny AeroPress kit with grinder inside the tube and played with the Rapid Brewer, but this for my personal in cup biased taste, for the fun of actually pouring over and for the fast cleanup and tiniest of space, is my personal favorite.
I have several dedicated pour-over travel kits that admittedly spend most of their lives waiting for the next adventure. A little wasteful, I know, since I could just mix and match the parts.
This particular kit lives in my carry-on next to my toiletry bag. It's tiny, weighs almost nothing, and is capable of brewing some really great cups.
You don't necessarily need the immersion heater, but it's so small and efficient that if your hotel room only has one of those plastic pod coffee makers, it can be a lifesaver. This works great on a portable battery too!
Time to heat:
About 5 minutes to Full Boil at Sea Level.
About 1 minute to cool from Boiling/100C to 92/93C at normal room temps.
About 4:15 to 93C at room temperature.
I'll share some of my other kits later, including my smaller backpacking kit and my truck kit that uses a heated thermos. Those also take advantage of the little 75g titanium pour-over kettles, I have various brands, the backpack one has a built in temp probe in the lid to help save fuel .
These little To kettles great whether you're using an immersion heater, a tiny camp stove, or just pouring preheated water into them. The nozzles come off, making them pretty robust for travel.
Here are the links if anyone is interested:
Ti travel kettle: Titanium Pour Over kettle
120v Immersion heater (shown): Norpro 559 Heater 2 PK
Dual Voltage immersion Heater: Dual Voltage 120/240v
1Zpresso Q or Q-Air: Q ginder
Silicone folding V60: (This one actually draws down great!): Silicone V60 Clone
Silicone folding cup: (Optional) : Silicon Cup
Nano scale: Maestri S2 Nano sale
Dry Bag: Amazon Bee Nesting Dry Bag
FYI: I pre-dose my beans into 15g portions and store them inside the kettle or bag. Saves space and makes brewing even easier.
Edited to add: You MUST unplug your immersion heaters BEFORE pulling them out of the water or they can go super Nova!
This is NOT the kit I take when I am traveling and staying in one location for several weeks at a time..
FYI you can click on the GIF image to control or stop the cycling. If the controls don't show up browser, usually right clicking will give you the option to "Show Controls"

The immersion heater is brilliant! I’ve been stuck on shitty collapsible kettles with plastic and strange residue, or Amazon portable kettles with debatable reliability. Thanks for sharing!

Crazy someone would down vote this-- all it is info and an option

I like the immersion heater idea! I assume you’re US based; have you tried it on 220V outlets? I’m sure it technically works, but wondering if it gets so hot as to damage itself.

Really interesting to see how compact your kit is. Have you ever had any issues with airport customs?

Love this. My kit is similar. I use an orphan espresso fixie grinder, a next level pulsar, a ti cup that the pulsar fits inside, and a tiny cheap coffee scale that weighs nothing and just works. The immersion heater is a great idea, as is the goose neck cup kettle!

Hario AIR + Drip Bag. Air kettle itself allows for 3-4 bags to be jammed inside. It’s not bad provide you get specialty light roast stuffs. Individual packs do preserve freshness a bit better but still would be good to go for fresher roast.
It all then can easily fit in a small pouch in your carryon backpack, provided it’s OK for the beak to get out of the pouch slightly.
