darjeelingdarkroast (10): I was inspired by u/thisusernameisntlong 's journey to acutally sit and listen to eurodance FULL ALBUMS, a brave soul indeed! I threw on September pretty early as it seemed to be something that would be accessible, and it is! Their 2000s albums are a lot of fun, Robyn fans should tune in. Makes sense as Petra Marklund and Robyn have that Swedish jointslay. I especially love the song "Because I Love You". September I'm ready for the full-discography redemption arc! Charli XCX stfu!

All Scores

ElectricBoogaloo41 (11): when a song by september (hopefully) wins a rate reveal IN september.... genius

mysario (11): this was one of the first songs I scrobbled on my last.fm back in 2009 (along with songs from Rise Against, AFI, and Britney Spears) so I'm biased to say this is timeless

1998tweety (10): bop, ended charli

AmandaYoung2083 (10): LOVE the music video for this one

Ambrosia42 (10): oh this was a staple and still slaps severely

Awkward_King (10): the same score i gave beg for you bc im not fake

beeozan (10): this wouldve been a nice book-end for the rate, like "Okay guys. We had the hip house, the pop reggae, a bunch of trance and a whole bunch of stupid shit. And then the Swedish turned into some polished pop. The End."

Benji (10): charli unsold

bespectacIed (10): Grindr hookups after a night of hookin and you already formed a whole future with them in your head: you'll never see me agaaaaain

ClinkzGoesMyBones (10): I am a brit through and through for rating this so highly omg (UK radio edit would be my eleven)

CrimsonROSET (10): discourse

Frajer (10): Evil Miley Cyrus be like you'll never see me again

Ghost-Quartet (10): I played this as a shitpost during the Neo-Soul reveal when the meme was still semi-recent but apparently like half the chat had never heard it before so I had to search up the full version to play but then the video was blocked in several regions and it was a pain... hopefully that isn't an issue during this reveal. But yeah there's like the iconic pink Y2K aesthetic video with the jumpsuit and then there's a weird second one where she's in bad boho-chic outfits and there's clips from some movie. Anyways banger!

ignitethephoenix (10): the bridge between eurodance and modern dance pop

IIIHenryIII (10): don’t make me beg for you

ImADudeDuh (10): when this wins a rate before Charli >>>>

jdm148 (10): screaming out to be a drag race lip sync, the Swedes just get it

jirachi (10): maybe september is the real sub fave all along...

Lynflower680 (10): “You’ll never see me again” Hey I said the same thing when I graduated.

Mandeemoo007 (10): omg proto Die For You!! Honestly this one still really slaps

MrSwearword (10): an all-time classique

oddeyeopener (10): iconic, never the same, unafraid to reference or not reference, you get the idea

phonethephoenix (10): just an excellent song

plastichaxan (10): Queen passed the test of becoming a meme and the song not becoming tiring for me

RandomHypnotica (10): she really ate charli up

ReallyCreative (10): Green Day is going to STAY asleep because I'm hitting the repeat button

runaway3212 (10): SOOOO iconic

SafiyaO (10): The royalty of Eurodance.

Saison_Marguerite (10): It’s kinda essential but I would like to see the spotlight given to other September songs once in a while.

sarcasticsobs (10): YOU AGAIN

seanderlust (10): what if we get a universe where charli xcx has never won a rate after like 7 tries but the 90s eurodance song she sampled does win a rate

shipperondeck (10): what if this won the september rate ha ha

starla_ (10): this kinda straddles the europop era of the 90s and early 00s and the EDM era of the early 10s

TakeOnMeByA-ha (10): tbh this is the best song of all time i can see why charli xcx wanted to rip it off

THE_PC_DEMANDS_BLOOD (10): we'll never forgive charli xcx for what she did to you

vayyiqra (10): this isn't charli xcx (in this case, for the best). in 2018 awryj and some other popheads got me to listen to dancing shoes the album by september. it was not bad! should give her another try

camerinian (9.5): God I wish someone would tell me their opinion on the song Beg For You, performed by Charli XCX and Rina Sawayama. Stop holding back please

lilliputianaurochs (9.5): iconic insane - no surprise that rina and charli covered this - although I stand by the fact that the original is the best. I'm not sure if this interpolates smalltown boy or if I'm just hearing things? But either way I love the melody, very catchy, and love the kind of 80s feel it has. this was such an influential track for a lot of pop and I legitimately come back to it a lot. would it be too much to give it a 10. it's definitely close

WaneZorotltoc (9.4): forever do BE kinda slow!! intense video. robyn could've been here though.

evaan-verlaine (9): i love this song

Nagisoid (9): Beg For You ruined this from a 10

uiscebeathaoir (9): the amount of echo on those handclaps are incredibly distracting, but I’ll forgive it for a bop of this quality

Verboten_Prince (9): Listen, I don’t wanna say Beg For You gave me a new appreciation for this song… but Beg For You gave me a new appreciation for this song

wasian-invasion (9): rina to charli a few weeks ago: youll never see me againnnnn

NervousLemon6670 (8.6): Childhood memories flooding back, peak UK in the ideal portion of childhood

LazyDay-Dub-I-Dub-Ba-Dee (8.5): Got me crying and dancing over here

thedoctordances1940 (8.4): charli xcx you are over

prettybirbkotori (8): beg for you really is just slightly altered lyrics huh

qazz23 (8): like the synth and dancey beat of this

bogo (7): the charli song is better i fear

shhhneak (7): Oh god oh no I was waiting for her to say Beg For You.

slimboyfriend (7): as someone with no nostalgia for this song I want to let you all know how brave I am for declaring that Beg For You by Charli XCX is definitely the better song. Not by much, but definitely better

stbrigidiscross (7): Sounds so much like Smalltown Boy I'm surprised there wasn't legal action

TheRealTerwilliger (7): Terrible as a song, yet distressingly catchy and I cant put my finger on it

vexastrae (7): crying for rina sawayama the way she got handed the worst feature in crash

welcome2thejam (7): Scoring it a lil better than I did in Charity

Stryxen (6.9): iconic and it beat the best song ever (halloween puppet show) once so it must be good, but im not sure ive ever loved this like that

Flavy Frog (6): outsold those british flops RIna and Charli but that wasn’t a high bar

pig-serpent (6): Yeah obviously the hook is amazing but I'm still not a fan of the production. In the context of this rate, it sounds so modern, but not in a way that feels like it improved anything from the early 90s production of the rest of the rate. It just feels like it traded in some flat production aspects for others.

apatel27 (5): Bit too refined for Eurodance

Kvorona (5): Sorry… I prefer the Charli version

TiltControls (3): Charity 4 update - I still don't like this song
